Before and After is probably the best Kes episode - but I have to admit that Kes represents (through no fault of her own) that early era of Voyager I wasn’t too fond of.

"Deadlock" gets most of it's impact from cheating. It wants to shock you with the big switch that it's the ruined Voyager that goes on on, while the Voyager in better condition is the one that must sacrifice itself - but since there is no intent to follow up on these cataclysmic events, this is just audience manipulation.

Not to mention the switch of Harry and the baby having no repercussions. (Though sometimes I fanwank that this is why we almost never see Samantha parenting Naomi - she doesn't feel connected to this alternate universe child! she was never allowed to grieve the death of her real baby! let Neelix and Seven do all the parenting, she needs distance because it's too hard for her)

It's the most galling reset button bullshit in the whole series, maybe?
