The least disliked episode 2023 - TNG Final Rounds

Suddenly I am regretting my last-round vote for "Yesterday's Enterprise." I do always say it's my favorite, even if I am burned out on it right now.

So now, I'll vote for "The Defector" and send it packing. It's amazing, but it's mostly about a guest character.

And I'll start a new round with a vote for "Q Who." It is a bit structurally awkward and it's earlier in the series and thus rougher.

Q Who - 1
Yesterday's Enterprise - 0
All Good Things... - 0

Keen. Now I'll vote for "All Good Things..." because Beverly changed her name to Picard and while it was consistent with her changing her name to Crusher, it was also annoying.

Q Who - 1
Yesterday's Enterprise - 1
All Good Things... - 1

Yesterday's Enterprise is my fave, but those are the breaks.

Q Who is the weakest one left, even though it's like choosing between pets or kids. ;)

Though All Good Things... has not been surpassed as a series conclusion - it is awesome.

Q Who - 1
All Good Things... - 0

I can't vote for Q Who - it did the unthinkable: introduced a new villain to Star Trek that surpassed any who came before. The Borg were at their most terrifying here and it led to what feels like hundreds of episodes exploring them since across the franchise.

Q Who - 3
All Good Things... - 1

Adding 1 to ATG.

"Q Who" has fewer plot holes.

ATG has that third tachyon beam from the Pasteur, not 1701-alt-D. Some headcanon can traipse around this but, nope, "Q Who" is just that much more solid in plotting, though both are top notch stories.

Q Who - 3
All Good Things... - 3

Oh, shit. It looks like it's down to me. I love "All Good Things...," but it does have that logic flaw in how the anomaly gets "started." And "Q Who" is solidly plotted and introduces the defining villain of the 24th century Treks.

Farewell to "All Good Things...."

"Q Who" takes it all!

It didn't end how I wanted but Q Who is still a tense introduction of the Borg on every rewatch, and of course hearing Guinan telling the backstory of the El-Aurians being wiped out by the Borg is chilling. :borg:

Q is great here too.
