Too bad. Stallone's Dredd is ruined by that shitfuck Rob Schneider. It would have been a great movie without him.

When John Wagner says "It was one of the flaws of the first movie, they tried to do too much..." I can't really understand that. Too much Schneider maybe.

i am sorry, but i am rapidly losing any faith in this movie.

Hm... It does need bigger handlebars, but I suspect it'll look OK once we see it in motion, with all the right lighting and so on.

Hmm, well we need to see it from the front I think but it doesn't look good in this pic, looks like the Batbike from the 60s...

When I saw the customised "real life" Lightcycles for sale my first thought actually was "Just one step away from a Lawmaster isn't it?"

Those guys made their light cycles for 35k each, not that bad for a movie prop, where you could have one decent hero (as I believe it's called) prop for Dredd and several other cheaper versions for the background.

I would have thought the Lawmaster is a pretty important part of the comics iconography for fans and might be a bit more of a crowd pleaser for non-fans. This just doesn't cut it for either group.

Hard to really get a good impression of the bike. Remember all of this is gonna be filmed in 3D as well. All i know is that the script was great. Maybe it won't translate well to film?

It's got Urban and Headley, some of the props and sets look very nice and if the script is good, that's probably enough for me.

The bike is certainly odd looking, like they took a racer and made it ride like a dirtbike, whereas the comics version is more like a Harley cruiser crossed with a steamroller. Still...it's better then the Stallone version I think. That always looked very top heavy and always on the verge of tipping over. Almost as if they took a real bike and stuck an oversized fibreglass shell on top...

Mind you that's probably the worse angle to see the thing from as it's probably only really meant to be seen from the front...and at least it does have the signature HUGE tyres. Also I suppose it should also be worth remembering that Olivia Thirlby is supposed to be able to ride one of these and hopefully *not* look like a midget on the back of an elephant. So they couldn't make it too big for her.

Out of interest, a quick google images search turns up this Lawmaster concept for that fan film that's in the works. Faithful to a fault, but I don't think this approach would work so well with the kind of art direction they're going for in Dredd. Still, makes for an interesting point of comparison.

A matinee is much cheaper than a night time showing, and if one goes without seeing it in 3D, then £4 is quite reasonable.

I still can't see how you'd do it for £4, the cheapest I can find by me is £6.

Matinees in the cinema I go to are £5, including 3D. Their evening shows aren't much dearer.

Those things were mopeds? Bloody hell it's a wonder they could move at all...though come to think of it we never did see one going at any real speed, probably not even 5mph.

By contrast the opening of the new film will apparantly entail a high speed pursuit, so however they film it it'd have to be based on something a lot more powerful than a poxy little 50cc engine.

cheapest ticket i cang et is £6.20, add another quid for a luxury seat (i don't) and 3D is £1.80 or something. i know i paid over £8 for Tron Legacy

Not surprising considering how top heavy the shell looked and I imagine the modified handlebars just made it worse. I actually just had a look at the opening scenes on youtube and you can clearly see the rider was struggling to stop the thing from tipping when slowing down. They would have been better off using the same stupidly wide wheels as the source material. It's not as if they ever need to lean in or even make tight turns.

^ Not bad looking; could have come from the 1995 movie but I suppose that's down to a certain amount of fidelity to the source comic book. Though I suppose the 1995 movie might not have gone for the blood-splatter.
