The lack of mourning/backstory for the original crew of Voyager

It was Voyager's first mission.

Is it possible that she sent Tuvok out before she had a ship and crew accounted for to bring him back?
Yeah, that's why she picked up Tom remember.
Tuvok was sent to spy on the Maquis and he had gone missing.
She assembled Voyager's crew to bring him back.

Tom was plan B, maybe plan C.

They picked up Tom because Tuvok had missed 2 check ins in the last 6 days with his handler and the ship altogether had been missing for a week according to intelligence from the Cardassians.

As far as the sting was concerned to capture Chakotay, the timetable had been moved forward several weeks.

I think the crew of Voyager was chosen by Starfleet admiralty. Intelligence quotient was also fitted into the equation? I think they sent a probe(Voyager mission) to counter something deceptive.

The first thing I wouldn't believe is the logs the Cardassians handed over.

The entire mission home was and Artificial reality constructed by the Cardassian's to keep them trapped like mice running a maze to some unfounded end.

I always had the impression that Janeway must have had some special / prior connection to Stadi. She DOES show some emotion over her death.

Stadi was a telepath and empath, her uncontrollable death rattle probably caused a sucking would that forceably drew in the collective conciousness of the assembled crew as she stole life out of every one near to afford a few more precious seconds of existence.

Just be thankful she chose to suck rather than blow.
