The Killing (AMC) Discussion

I was thinking that too. Although maybe it will be somebody out of left field like the campaign manager.

As someone who's seen the first season of the original, I kinda like it. Why I didn't bother long into the second was because it just dragged on. Hopefully they can avoid that in this version.

I find it ironic that the US Sarah looks even more danish to me then the Danish Sara

Joel Kinnaman as Holder is a nice surprise, having seen some of his stuff here in his native Sweden. He's doing what he can with the character, was kind of an ass in the Danish version as well. He's managed to make me crack up at some points though, and while I still hear his Swedish accent a bit, I like his work on the series so far.

Michelle Forbes is of course great, but my real surprise is Brent Sexton as Stanley Larsen. I've always liked him and I like his portrayal of the character better the the Danish actors. The latter was so stoic and obviously "tough guy" that I never really bought him as a family man as well. Sexton really sells both aspects.

Oh and I cracked up at the rich kids house being the Graystone's house from Caprica  Guess it's shot in Vancouver then, huh?

That's another thing, Seattle is a pretty good location for the series. Probably among the closest you can get to Denmark and parts of Sweden within the continental US.

I'll keep watching.

Alright, since I've decided not to go to Arlington tonight, I'll be watchin' The Killing premiere via AMC on Demand instead.

I didn't pick up on him being anything other than American/Canadian, so he did a pretty good job. I didn't particularly like the character, though.

There's some sounds that are quite recognizable to a fellow Swede. The character did get better as the original went along, slightly at least. Hope they'll diverge him a bit earlier in the US version.

Great cast, but the topic just doesn't interest me. I feel like I've seen this schitck too many times before.

Before anyone on TV is allowed to make any kind of cop show at all, they must provide a good answer to this question: Why are you completely and utterly unable to make any other kind of show instead. Note: lawyer shows, doctor shows, sitcoms and reality TV are not acceptable alternative.

The only way for a cop show to grab me is to offer something startlingly different. Like Twin Peaks. Otherwise, don't bother.

anyone have any idea's on who the killer is yet ?

Billy Campbell is way too obvious. My money's on Leoben. ;)

They set tons of American shows in Seattle so they can shoot in Vancouver on the cheap. ;) Frankly I'm bored to death of Seattle or should I say, "Seattle." I might watch a cop show that was set in the desert...

Was the skinny annoying partner a Swedish actor? I thought he sounded weird every so often.

CSI.... :techman:

They aren't really cops, though. They just act like it.

Watched it last night, thought it was alright. I'll keep watchin' to see how things go, though I hope they give the lead detective a real reason to stay on the case, other than refusin' to sign her paperwork.

'cause that's just a dick move after throwin' her a goin' away party.

Though I find Sarah's partner absolutely irritating and detestable. Him being a main character almost killed the whole thing for me; he's that unlikable. Which was probably their intention, but still, he's hard to take.

I kind of hope the killer kills him next.

I'm really liking it, but have no clue where it will be going.

I wonder if we even really met the killer yet.

Yeah, and he's done some great stuff around here. Sadly the stuff he's really been recognized for was a part that really didn't grab me at all, but that's life.

And I can say that in the Danish version, the killer has been introduced by this point. But apparently it's not going to be the same guy so...who know?

Finally saw it last night. Talk about slow burn. It took a whole episode to get going with "the killing". It's a little more engaging than Rubicon and I want to see who did it, so I'll stick around. Gonna have to watch that first hour again though.

I looked up the lead actress. She's married to Alan Ruck. Good to know.

Billy Campbell - does the guy not age? He doesn't look much older than he did in The Rocketeer.
I think he's shown his age for quite some time now.

Thought it was Baltar's house. Same bedroom.

Yeah it was The BSG house, same living room area looking over the lake. Have they done an autopsy yet? She has to be pregnant.

no they are going to do a examination of the body to determine if she was raped .
she drwoned in the trunk of the car with no marks on her .

Wasn't her face beaten up?

She has to be pregnant because the buried doll would be useless then and I doubt a writer went "Let's add a buried baby doll!".

yeah her face and neck had bruises on it so it was a weired comment for them to make .
