The Jem'Hadar Line-By-Line

Jake: Are you kidding? You think making course corrections manually is easy?

And herein lies the problem. Copyright law is there for you, to protect and encourage innovation in society. It becomes a matter for lawyers only when there is a will they/won’t they culture of testing the limits to see how much one can get away with, as opposed to a culture of creativity unburdened by such matters. Fans shouldn’t have to discuss potential takedown or cease and desist; that’s too close for comfort already, and it’s not like everyone can’t stop and think what they’re doing, whether it’s wasting time on a fan film (however unambitious and therefore “safe”) or copying lines from a transcript and pasting them elsewhere.

Look, these line-by-line threads have been around for years. If there was a problem with them we would have heard by now. Since you don't really seem to be interested in enjoying this thread in the way it was meant to be, I see no reason to allow you to continue to do derail it. If you want to discuss copyright law you can create a thread in the appropriate forum.

JAKE: Actually, it'll take about five years.
(The runabout weaves a drunken course through space)

Er...I think we missed the scene where Jake and Nog remove the GNR and try to engage the autopilot, only to be told they can't engage the autopilot because they removed the GNR?

Sorry to nitpick. It's just one of my favorite bits of the episode, I was hoping to contribute to that part. :)

Ah. Yes, we did miss part of that scene. :( Are we okay with going back and picking up there, even though we've moved through several scenes? With all the excitement we've had in the last few pages, I would be game for a do-over.

I'm going to assume so, so here we go:

[Runabout Rio Grande]

(Isolinear chips and stuff are all over the floor)
JAKE: This shouldn't be so hard. I just watched Chief O'Brien run a maintenance check on the Mekong's navigational array a couple of weeks ago.

Jake: I think O'Brien said something about the autopilot being connected to the guidance and navigational relay. If I could just find it. It was this round thing, with this square part on the bottom. I think I got it.

JAKE: I hope so. Computer, what's the status on the autopilot?
