I watched the videos just now and I couldn't believe it either. There's a lot of guesswork and rumor in that article, and even Cuneyt Arkin's story changed over the years from the principled stand of "Bond represents imperialism and I'm holding up my own values" to grumpy old man claiming the powers that be (Cubby Broccoli and Harry Saltzman? Execs at United Artists?) were racist. Sorry, I don't buy it.
"Lord Lucan, the Rebels are almost at the ambush point."Lord Lucan sounds like a Twilight character
Closest I’ve here was Goran Visnic, purportedly on the shortlist to replace Brosnan, but for whom accent issues (despite apparently hiring an accent coach) proved insurmountable. Given that he would probably pass for English much easier than the average Turkish actor, I’m not convinced that Eon looked at that end of the world.I'm sure there's some auditions that never came to light, as well as some names they kicked around that didn't get to the audition point. The thing is, I've never heard of them entertaining the idea of Bond being played by someone who wasn't from the UK, Ireland, Australia, or the U.S. If they ever cast an person of color as Bond, it'll be someone who's lived in the UK all his life, it won't be someone who'll have a language barrier and an accent to overcome.
Apparently Christopher Lambert was looked at in the 80s.Closest I’ve here was Goran Visnic, purportedly on the shortlist to replace Brosnan, but for whom accent issues (despite apparently hiring an accent coach) proved insurmountable. I wonder are they casual fans? This thread does seem mainly to be populated by more dedicated ones.I find it interesting that here in the BBS, there is a lot of praise for OHMSS and George Lazenby's performance as Bond; yet, over in the Steve Hoffman Visual Arts forum, someone started a thread posing the same question about OHMSS and Lazenby, and the response has been almost overwhelmingly negative.

Changed for the better or the worse?Speaking for myself, I found him a not-terrible Bond choice, until he made that 2017 documentary; “Becoming Bond”…my opinion changed a bit about the actor and the man…
