It's probably gonna be a hot take, but... while I love the art direction and production design of Villeneuve's movies, I find his work to be a tad bit cold and detached. Case in point - I find David Lynch's Dune much more rewatchable and interesting.

A Bond film shouldn't feel detached, and I hope Villeneuve adapts himself to the material. Regardless, the movie is guaranteed to look gorgeous.

I agree - I was largely unimpressed by the action sequences in the Dune movies even if everything looked nice. At least Villeneuve professes to be a Bond fanatic since childhood - so he should understand what he's getting into.

I'm thrilled at this news. I guess the one takeaway is that we're not getting a return to campy, silly, fun Bond films!

I guess the best indicator for what a Villeneuve Bond film looks like is probably Sicario. Hell del Toro's infiltration of the Cartel house in the final act could be a Bond pre title sequence (except Bond would never do what del Toro does)

I agree - I was largely unimpressed by the action sequences in the Dune movies even if everything looked nice. At least Villeneuve professes to be a Bond fanatic since childhood - so he should understand what he's getting into.

The Dune action scenes are often great, it's just that he incessantly changed things from the book ( and outright dumped the lasgun-shield interaction because he apparently just didn't want to deal with it ).

The very word "adapt" means "to change".

And the word 'movie adaptation' means 'to screw it up'.

9 times out of 10 at least.

Figuring out what to change and what to keep the same is tricky, and it's very possible to get the balance wrong.
