It's odd. I think when nothing was happening slow felt very sssslllllooooowwwwwww
Now things are happening I want them to go slowly, just not the glacial pace of Eon. Rushing a film out is feasible but might be a bad idea.
I think it all comes back to Bond himself. Do you choose and actor and then decide what tone of film suits that actor, or do you decide what tone you want and then search only for an actor to fit that tone? Two very different approaches, albeit approaches that could both end up with exactly the same outcome.
Here's something I was thinking about just the other day. Given the new world order so to speak, do we think the chances of them remaking a Fleming novel are more or less likely than before, or about the same?
In terms of title am I right in thinking that all that's left is:
- Risico (plot elements already used in For Your Eyes Only)
- Property of a Lady (plot elements already used in Octopussy)
- The Hildebrand Rarity (plot elements used in Licence to Kill, the safehouse in Spectre was named Hildebrand Prints and Rarities)
- 007 in New York (the plot elements of this already used in Quantum of Solace and the name Solange used in Casino Royale)
Setting aside 007 in New York, which would be an incredibly dumb name for a film, there's been reluctance by Eon to use any of the others (although POAL was going to be the title of Dalton's third film) I wonder if Amazon will think differently.
I think they could work. Risico has the feel of a Western or a mob story but could just as easily be the name of some new software (though I've really had enough of AI/spying software/smart blood etc). It could be the name of the villain or a place or a company.
POAL could relate to anything, from the titular property being secrets to precious jewels to again some kind of weapon/technology.
The Hildebrand Rarity feels the weakest of the three. POAL is the strongest, and from a purely marketing perspective allows you to do this...
