Between Survival and Rose it was a weird era where we were grasping at canon.

Arguments could have been made that the cartoon, the FOX movie or the audio lark were all the natural successor to Doctor Who 1963-1989, because it was never going to come back. It was gone. Forever and we had to hitch our horses to something other than all those thousands of novels that we churning out keeping the fanbase placated.

I pray Missy isn't a female Master, it'd be pointless. The Rani was created for the purpose of being a female timelord antagonist, what's the point of making the Master female? And that would mean my worst fears could become true one day: a female doctor. NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Personally I'd like her to be the Rani or someone new.

Personally, this is the sort of reaction that makes me pray that Missy is a female Master.

Seriously, your WORST fear is a female Doctor? Really? Suddenly you would stop watching Doctor Who?

The casual misogyny of science fiction fans always astounds me.

Well I'd certainly write in. I'd watch like the premiere episode and unless it was on par with the best episodes ever I'd be tempted to stop watching it. If a female was cast I'd probably start an online petition or something.

So, if it's a man, it's ok that it's not "on par" with the best episodes, but if it's a woman it has to? Why the different standard?

And I'm not in a minority here, in fact this seems to be the only place where the majority of people would welcome an female doctor. Most people I know would strongly oppose a female doctor, both males and females.

Just because you believe you are not in the minority, doesn't mean, in fact, that you are right. Or that your sexism shouldn't be called out.
