BASHIR: Exactly why it won't work. You can't ask her to turn her profession into a hobby. Would you be satisfied just puttering around in a workshop making nano-circuit boards and playing with tricorders?
(Fwiw, I agree with what Bashir is saying. But I also think that an arboretum on DS9 could have been much more than a hobby for Keiko. It could have been a continuation of her profession as she collected and studied and shared botanical life from their corner of the Alpha Quadrant and from the Gamma Quadrant.)

(I definitely see both sides as well. I think it could have been a good thing for Keiko, but I certainly see Bashir's point. And it led to something much for meaningful for Keiko in the long run, which I thought was very cool.)
