THE HOBBIT (2012/2013): News, Rumors, Pics Till Release

So they've recast Legolas? This will not please my wife.. Not one little bit..
Really? I'm only popping in on occasion on this thread. This is one of those films I'm opting to not watch every trailer and follow intensely. I have a friend who is a huge Orlando Bloom fan and she is not going to like this.
It may alter her desire to see it, lessen her enthusiasm some for sure. I'm going to google a link and send it to her unless someone has a link?

This link and AICN was the closest I've found thus far but it feels far from detail oriented.

I can't watch the video diary blog here at work. I'm guessing some details are in there.

Err, you guys did watch the video, right?

On another note - if ever there was a case against JJ's totalitarian regime of secrecy on movie sets, it's these BTS shorts on the Hobbit. It helps that its based on a book thats half a century old, but these just show the magic of movie making as opposed to spoiling the film. If anything, these have made me more excited for the movie.

^^OHHH.. Ok.. Whew! Crisis averted at home then.. I couldn't watch it either.. My apologies for posting that.. Much like Captain Craig's friend, my wife's desire to see the movie would possibly be lessened were that really the case..

Sure. Your "wife's desire" huh? It's ok, we all understand. You like the pretty boys. :guffaw:

Well, thanks to this, I now found out that Tolkien did not invent the word hobbit. I was wondering how they got the rights to the name, but it turns out they didn't have to.
Although I do wonder if they have to change the Hobbit's appearance.

^ I was just about to ask about that. I had always assumed it was a word he specifically made up for the books.

Good news for anyone here that's going to Comic-Con: The Hobbit will be there in full force. :techman:

Peter Jackson, Phillipa Boyens, Andy Serkis, Martin Feeman, Ian McKellen, and Richard Armitage will all be present for the panel. And apparently Guillermo del Toro's own movie, Pacific Rim, will also be having a panel in the same room that day, so that's kind of cool.

There were rumors recently of a second trailer. Hopefully it will premiere at Comic-Con. :D

Entertainment Weekly will be doing a Comic-Con issue soon, and one of its main features (unsurprisingly) will be The Hobbit. They've released ten new images. You can see them at their website here.

Looking good. :D
