Oh I'm sure we'll see "The Green Hornet II" in 2013 or something like that. I didn't mind the plot...it was just Rogen's performance that bothered me. After finishing reading Kevin Smith's Green Hornet comic adaption...I really wish he had been able to make the film. Stronger plot, wittier and sharper writing, a more likable Reid (not to mention Kevin's take on the character made him and Kato legacy characters) and an interesting opponent.

Seems to be having a respectable run but I still think this movie could've really been something else in the otherwise dry Summer for movies last year. May be a franchise here, folks. Which, again, I'm fine with so long as Rogen calms the fuck down in the next one.

Me? I'll wait for the reboot.

Well, we'll probably see you again in like 10 years or so. ;)

In today's Hollywood, it'll be 5.

^ I doubt that...but wouldn't be surprised.

D-

Neither the humour nor the action was very convincing. The 3D effects weren't even worth mentioning.

To be fair though, I was forced to watch it with German dubbing (the co-worker I went with didn't want to watch it in English), which definitely ruined a lot of dialogues and some of the mildly amusing banter.

I want my 13 Euros back. Also, 3 hours of my life.

Surely the movie previews were at least worth your time. :techman:
I'm assuming that's part of the 3hrs unless you had a special extended cut no one else has seen.

Three hours? You must have seen the extended cut.

Heh, yeah, the Tron Legacy preview was pretty good tbh

I was counting the drive to the cinema ;)

Well that's hardly fair to the movie. ;)

also: has the Hornet never heard of Starbucks? You can go THERE and get online. Hell, LOTS Of places that isn't where, you know, where you work. Important when the bad guys know who you are.
Yeah, this is the one plot point I had a hard time getting past. I know it set up a spantacular sequence of events and thematically it tied into the importance of the newspaper to Britt, but I kept thinking "Wait, you've got this insanely fancy car and it doesn't have a built in laptop?" or as you said "NO wifi in the whole area?!"

And tying into it: the moment the DA guy knows that Britt is the Green Hornet, you KNOW he's a dead man... you can't have a bad guy knowing the secret and LIVE, think of the sequels!

Re: The Green Hornet: Grade, Review, Discuss, Speculate-Seth Rogan 1.1

^ Precisely. I got no sense of fun or entertainment from this movie. Like I said in my first post there were a few jokes I found amusing but otherwise this was not a movie that I felt was worth my time or my money. First dud of 2011.

Re: The Green Hornet: Grade, Review, Discuss, Speculate-Seth Rogan 1.1

Just saw it finally. I had reasonably low expectations heading into the theater given the aggregate rating it had on the Tomato-meter. The movie was a bit better than my expectations and there was some reasonably goofy fun to be had in a few places.

There was also some reasonably decent effects and fights scenes and any movie with Edward James Olmos gets a few bonus points. Still, all in all I'd be hard pressed to recommend this to someone to view in a theater. It's a mindless popcorn cheap rental type movie that might be a little more fun with a few beers in you but little else.

All in all, 5.8/10. Not horrible, but certainly not great either.

Re: The Green Hornet: Grade, Review, Discuss, Speculate-Seth Rogan 1.1

I saw this this weekend, and I actually really enjoyed it. It's just a slightly goofy, fun action movie. It's not the greatest movie I've ever seen, but I definitely enjoyed it. My rating: 9/10. I voted A.

Re: The Green Hornet: Grade, Review, Discuss, Speculate-Seth Rogan 1.1

The International numbers have been updated now bringing it's foreign total up to $37.4m for a new worldwide total of $100m for it's 11 days in release.

Re: The Green Hornet: Grade, Review, Discuss, Speculate-Seth Rogan 1.1

Edward James Olmos was a bright spot in the movie. I'd forgotten he was in it and enjoyed his scenes.
