*~*~The Great J/C Thread~*~*

^ Oh, sure - I understand and even somewhat agree about Beltran (I mostly like him - and I really like looking at him ;) - but he had Voyager episodes that he just kind of walked through, for example), and of course I agree that it definitely is all opinion.

Not admiring him or any actor I can understand. I mean, I don't admire Jonathan Frakes' acting one little bit (although he's not hard to look at either ;) ), in Trek or when I've seen him in other things. That's my opinion, but lots of people disagree. Fair enough.

It's the loathing that I just don't get. I mean, criminey. If Beltran is the worst actor they've ever seen, they just haven't been paying attention...But in some cases, I am fairly sure they prefer to think of him as awful because they disliked Voyager so much.

I could probably overlook the loathing except - and here's opinion again - it's so boring to listen to. It's understandable from time to time, lots of people give into it now and then, including me, but I try not to go on and on and on and on at every available opportunity because it's so dull. It's like listening to somebody complain about his bunions or something. Jeez, if you dislike him so much, quit watching or find a way to enjoy the show in spite of him, as I had to do with Riker and TNG. Sounds pretty simple to me.

But heck, maybe there is some charm about loathing actors that I've just missed. I think I'll try to go on missing it, though.

Another J/Cer fan here! :) And I also liked 7 as well and would not bash her..I'm just jealous of her gorgeous figure.
BTW: Joyofvgr LOVE your av!!!! BSG fan also huh?? I also adored Starbuck as well. She was a kick ass character on that show!
Anyway, ahem, back to the subject at hand. I was just angry that the writers let C/7 happen because A)Chakotay never showed anything romantic about 7 and B)It just didn't mesh well, IMO!

Wow, everyone's been so generally positive for the past two pages.

Is it an April Fools' prank? Am I still on Trekbbs?

It's no surprise. This board is very tame and often neutered.

On another track, I was reading a Janeway/Chakotay fic set during Riker and Troi's wedding during Nemesis once and I had an interesting thought: What would happen if Deanna had Zanthi fever and affected one or both of them like in the DS9 episode: Fascinations...

Zanthi fever- can't remember that. Please elaborate. :)

Zanthi Fever is a condition that affects older Betazoids in which they project their emotions onto others. It's different than the similar Vulcan Bendii Syndrom (TNG's "Sarek", "Unification, Part I"), in that this projection of emotion side-effect only impacts those people in which they already have those feelings, no matter how latent and unexplored.

Lwaxana was experiencing Zanthi Fever in the 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' inspired episode of DS9, "Fascination" - which I hated the first time I saw it, but have grown to enjoy over the years.

Indeed it would have been interesting to see the effects of Zanthi Fever on Chakotay & Janeway, and other characters as well. It sounds like a perfect idea for a fic, with lots of slashy potential as well. :) But Deanna would probably be too young to experience the fever, and Lwaxana apparently made it through her bout eventually. But there were probably many other Betazoids at their wedding, any number of which could have been suffering such symptoms.

Somehow watching a video clip of 'Trials and Tribble-ations' on Youtube led me through a long chain to this one, and I thought I'd share it here.

Make sure to watch the whole way through!

The end of the video was indeed really amusing.

But the rest of it was lame. If those are the best one-liners they shouldn't have bothered. Ick. I kept waiting for all the good lines that I knew were peppered throughout the series, but even the scenes they showed seemed to be liner-less. They should have just edited that last sequence on it's own and posted it that way.

I tend to agree... I actually started to do just that and repost it myself, because the end is hilarious.

The exit door is blocked.

I doubt you meant anything in poor taste by that (The exit door is blocked)--and hope that you didn't.

I read this right after reading about the massacre in Binghampton (where the killer blocked the exit door with his car).

The timing of my readings was just weird.

I've kind of been avoiding this thread for awhile, since I'm not a huge fan of the idea of J/C getting together. I finally read the first few pages, though I haven't read them all yet. I'm sure this has probably been brought up already, but just to put in my two cents..

I never really got the idea that Janeway was really that into Chakotay other than as a friend. I'm sure she found him attractive, but I think Janeway spent much of the trip getting over her relationship with Mark and worrying about more important things than love, like their survival and getting home.

I think Chakotay had some feelings for Janeway, but not in a very serious way. More in a "well if things were different maybe something would have happened" kind of way.
I liked the relationship that they had as friends and as Captain/Number 1. I really wouldn't have wanted to see a relationship get in the way what of they already had.

I don't really have a huge problem with something happening between them after they returned to Earth, but definitely not during the trip.

^ I most definitely agree, Destro, and you and I are not alone. And you bring up an excellent point that she had a lot of other things to worry about. But the majority (in this thread - I mean, there's a reason why it's named what it's named ;) ) is against us. But they're very nice and tolerant and polite about it, so it works out fine.
