I think C/7 was bothering a lot of people, no matter if they felt J/C chemistry or not. And for the reason you said - it happened out of the blue and was a little OOC from Seven's part. And Chakotay's too.

^ Despite all of the differing opinions I've seen here, I have never encountered anyone who was positive about the 7/C pairing.

    I think that says something.

If there is anybody who likes that pairing though, I would be interested in hearing why.

Not even Ryan or Beltran seemed to think it was good idea. At least not in a way it ended up being written there.

If I remember correctly, one likeable aspect of C/7 for a C/7er is that Seven is a science-oriented though and through whereas Chakotay is more religious person, and the contrast is what might make the pairing interesting.

Unfortunatly I have to disagree. I find C/7 having equally much chemistry and interest-factor than Norwegian herring. I know such thing exists, but I have no interest or need to go and have a taste.

C/7 wasn't implausible to me, but it was presented rather abruptly. It did have the benefit of technically being outside the command chain. For all intents and purposes, Seven is a civilian.

C/7 could have forced Janeway and the Doctor to deal with their feelings for both involved. For Janeway, it's a rather complex situation - 'I had feelings for my XO, who I shouldn't really let myself be involved with, who is now in a relationship with my apprentice because I didn't let myself act on my feelings.'

I think C/7 wouldn't have bothered me so much if it had been discussed more, given more time, if we'd had a chance to see Janeway expressing some angst over it. Rather than her just saying 'Oh yes they're suddenly together isn't everything wonderful' when there had been all that chemistry between J/C previously. I found that weird and maybe a bit shallow.

I love the fanfic that explores the original timeline and has Admiral Janeway bitter and going back in time with the real intention of splitting them up and getting Chakotay for herself - not out of disrespect to Seven, but because I think J/C are more suited to each other and I don't like to think of Janeway not caring that she was dumped for her gorgeous blonde busty protege!

Interesting. I actually respected Janeway more for not carrying on about C/7. She wouldn't break protocol to be with Chakotay, so he moved on. Janeway loved him, so she was happy for him. She also cared deeply for Seven and wanted to see her happy also.

I thought C/7 had chemistry, but I still didn't like them together. I was angry for days after Endgame.

I'm not going to change the subject in a J/C thread, but if you really want to know, PM me. And give me a few days to get back to you because it's a busy week. :)

For the record, Ryan said in a recent interview when asked what Seven would be doing eight years after Voyager, that she's married to Chakotay.

And Beltran was positive on the idea back to season 5.

I read her interview. But her pulling Seven/Chakotay marriage out of the hat means...?

Neither Beltran or Ryan were happy how C/7 happened in the end of the series. They were not really against it, but more against how it was carried out. And that is hardly surprising.

Well, I think most fans--including C/7ers--would have preferred it carried out differently.

Did you personally think, as a C/7er, that it happened in a good way, or how would you have done it differently?

I would have done it differently, more gradually over the course of the series. Obviously, as XO, Chakotay would have had more interaction with her than we saw on screen.

And I wouldn't have made him so hostile to her once she came on board (although he did mellow--contrary to opinion). That just seemed really out of character to me.

Beyond that, I really don't want to get into it in this thread. The subject is J/C, not C/7, and I'd hate to be the one to drag it off-topic.

Well, anyway, the latest book (the title I'm not going to mention anymore), for all its problems, did get J/C together 2 or so yrs. after they got home, even if for a too brief time (maybe not on screen canon, but something), & yes I'm being selective in what I'm believing.

    Interesting.

Personally I liked Chakotay's attitude towards Seven when she came onboard, so I didn't find it OOC at all.

And what comes to off-topic, C/7 is very closely attached to J/C. In fact, it might be one of the main reasons why J/C fandom is still so active today. I was just asking, because you are the only C/7er I know to exist so your point of view is very unique from my perspective.

It seemed nasty to me. I'd understand him being cautious, but not overtly hostile. It seemed unprofessional--and Chakotay was always professional.

Given that my fanfic has been well-received, I find it hard to believe that I'm the only C/7er on the planet. We're not a big fandom, but we do exist. ;)

I know that many J/Cers have read your stories. ;)

However, I am sure you are not the only one in your kind, but you are the only one I happen to know or ever discussed with.

Oh, I know. I particularly like it when a J/Cer says, "well, I hate C/7 but I love your story!"

Well, you are good with Voyager characters and a good writer in general. If only you were J/Cer... then you could really put those writing skills in good use. :p
