*~*~The Great J/C Thread~*~*

Hello, all, I have been a J/Cer for 10 long years, & so glad to find this thread, and that J/C is still alive (& KJ really is, too). I guess am more of an post Endgamer, but also would have LOVED a J/C Workforce. I was going to read Full Circle as heard it was well written (& thick), but I read the end in the bookstore & it was just too sad (altho the J/C together part was great). So, I hope for more interesting J/C discussion & love the pix, thanks, GS.

Yeah - our group instinct eventually bring us together.

lol. I was happy to find this thread too, when I started posting more often a few months back. I thought perhaps I was the only one who liked them. None of my friends really enjoy Voyager at all, and pretty much ignore that it ever happened...but I find it hard to just write it all off just because I didn't like a lot of it. Some things I did enjoy. And the chemistry between Janeway & Chakotay was definitely something that I loved about the show. Even though J/C was under-written - it was still there for people to see and interpret - and they can't take that away. :)

Glad you found us neogothboy. Back in the day when I found first J/C webpages I was like " " - some others see it well and like it! It was in the 90s, so the whole internet was kind of new for me. Tee hee. I simply typed "Janeway Chakotay" on altavista (search engine I preferred back then) and the following site was one of the first J/C sites I got hooked into:

You mean there's even more of you people. You all keep coming out of the woodwork's.

That's Great! :techman:

Hello, just hope I am not too late for the discussions of this thread - hope there are more to come, thanks, GS.
P.S. looking for J/C fanfic sites that are more current - most of the stuff out there (tho interesting) are years old. I have found Jcville. And didn't realize there were Youtube videos (yay) until a few weeks ago .
P.S. BTW, I wasn't a JCer right away, even after Resolutions (shock!)- I think I "converted" sometime about Scorpion, don't know why (maybe the arguing -ha).

Try the VAMB site: http://voyagerangel.com/vamb/

Galekarens - there are bunch of J/C-centric Live Journals as well, which are still updated quite frequently. And couple of websites as well.

When I found the original picture, I just knew I had to "pimp" it as a J/C pic. I'm hopeless, I know.

Thank you Tachyon.:techman:
This is such a great site. I think I will spent many hours by watching all the sites.:)

Edit: Just saw the picture above- this is so cool. I love it.

You're welcome, Mareika. I'm just surprised the site still exists after all these years.

Hello, I did happen upon the VAMB site a couple days ago & I registered, but now I'm supposed to be activated by the "administrator" & it hasn't happened yet. Does anyone know how long that might take. Thanks! GS

I can understand why you might think the more current sites are better, but don't overlook the old sites. Some of the great J/C writers are no longer active, but their stories are simply breathtaking. While they may be set during the series or imagine different endings than what we got, they are wonderful and shouldn't be ignored.

Did you check your spam folder? That is a common problem and happens a lot.

Hello, all, thanks so much for your replies. Well, actually, I read a bunch of J/C stories online maybe 10 (ack) years ago, so have nothing against older stuff - just maybe read a lot of it. Then, kind of fell away from fanfaction until a little while ago (don't know why I started again, maybe felt nostalgic!). I thought maybe J/C had died out so nice to see still some interest. Well, I found fanfiction.net, so have seen some newer stuff. Hoping to see a wonderful post-Full Circle (sigh, I wish I could read it, but just checked out the J/C part) story someday (ie KJ returns!) - have found a couple short ones, but ready for a great long one (too bad am not much of a writer).

Anyway, got the 1st Email "welcoming" me to VAMB but nothing since & when I try to log in am not active. Is VAMB a really active site? I can probably live w/out it, but it seems kind of mysterious. Wish Janeway.org was still around - that was a fun place. Re-found "Voyager season 7.5" - somehow overlooked it before. Well, thanks again, GS. PS, yes, I do have a life beside this, lol.

It's pretty active, there is a bring back Janeway story challange going on, and a spring story exchange which means a lot of new stories. Did you sign up as Galekarens? I could check with the Admins. It's the place to be if you are a J/Cer or even a J/7er.

Hello, I would love to get on the VA message board, mostly just to read, but still.... I replied to my "welcome to VAMB" email asking how long it would take to active my registration. Don't want to pester anyone too much. I guess if nothing happens in a few more days (maybe it will), I might ask for assistance (yes am Galekarens there). It would be great to be part of such a community. Thanks so much! GS

On fanfiction.net Voyager fanfic is still alive and kicking. I don't think I am lying too much if I claim that there are more Voyager fic than TNG, DS9 and ENT fic combined. And a big amount of Voyager fanfic over there is actually J/C. :)

I have no problems with J/C, as they were obviously compatible personalities that had the opportunity to spend a good deal of time together considering the business of their careers. I could easily see them tying the knot under different circumstances.

What bothers me is how hastily 7/C was presented. There was absolutely no preclude to this pairing, certainly not enough to justify it over the doctor. In fact, there's another continuity whole that annoyed me: after the doctor confesses his love for 7 thinking he is on the brink of death, we never get to hear 7's reaction. Having the doctor cope with rejection would've made for an interesting B-plot, but only really gets left for speculation.

There are other aspects of this 7/C relationship that irk me though. It reaffirms Chakotay's status as the ship's stud, the guy every girl seems to want, even the former automaton who's slowly regaining her humanity. Though mostly, I just don't see the compatibility between these 2 mates. The doctor for one, would have made more sense, if only because it fulfills the irony that the doctor fell in love with his own apprentice. Someone like Tuvok would also have made a better match. Both vulcans and borg are very similar in their purely rational method of thinking, and if Tuvok weren't already married, they would easily seem to be the most compatible in terms of personality similarities.
