Spoilers The Good Place Season 4

One big suspension of disbelief in this show is that nobody in the history of the show, upon arrival in the afterlife, has ever inquired if they can see their dead friends and relatives.

The thing about Eleanor is that even when she was awful she knew deep down she was awful. She had the 'little voice'. If she arrived in the Good Place for real, and was surrounded by people treating her well, I think the voice would have eventually taken over and changed her behavior. But I think Brent's voice is always saying "Yeah, you rock!"

I could see Brent being cloned or sent back to earth as one of his empoyees so he has to interact with himself to change him. Basically put a mirror to his behavior. Or maybe he has a unresolved issue on earth or his parents died early or treated him bad. Jason

Weird. I liked this episode more than the past few. I felt there was more philosophic weight than there had been. I like the idea of being good is trying to be better than you were yesterday. I really liked the group realizing they had to stop walking on egg shells around Brent. And I bet sending Bad Janet to the Bad Place with the book will have repercussions.

Ultimately I liked the suggesting that people aren’t good or bad but a mix of both and it’s how one responds to getting knocked down.

I agree, this was actually one of my favorite episodes in a while. I thought the stuff with Brent and Simone was hilarious but also frustratingly realistic and insightful. I like it when episodes focus on the philosophy of humanity and people's motivations.

Yeah, I think when the philosophic stuff is what makes the show special. Sure, it's funny. It's funny in unique ways. But, that's try of quite a few shows lately.

I have never found the show super funny. I prefer more edgy stuff. I like how it is plesant and thought provoking with creative twists. Plus it is my favorite Ted Danson role even over Sam Malone or himself on Curb. Jason

"We do nothing. We hope that our earlier successes make up for the embarrassing mess we've become. Like Facebook. Or America."

Tonight's episode was absolutely terrific. And that was just Eleanor and Michael's dual evil laughs. :rommie::evil::devil:

I'm glad the experiment has already come to an end so the rest of the season can focus on the big picture problems. I'm not surprised that Simone was secretly observing everyone and figured that Elanor and Michael had been focusing on just the four of them (or rather she initially thought them and Tahani and Jianyu). Nor am I surprised that Brent continued to be utterly clueless and selfish to the bitter end (and I don't think he was actually apologizing to Chidi at the last second, but I could be wrong there).

The experiment is over and things don't look good for Team Cockroach. Time to chug a pitcher full of margaritas like the trash bag from Arizona! Also, don't look directly at Janet after midnight. She'll be violently eating her Janet babies.

Much better than last week. Things actually moved forward in a major way and I actually laughed a few times, like the Embarrassing mess line. Is it wrong that I am starting to find Simone more annoying than Brent? Brent may be a bad person, but Simone really comes across as pushy sometimes.

Looking forward to seeing where they go from here.

This was listed as episode 46, making it the 7th episode this season. So there are 7 episodes left since this season has an extra episode (as the finale is going to be 1 hour).

That's an exciting place to leave off. This kind of supports my "The experiment failed but the main four go to the Good Place because their accounts were secretly reopened too, then they have to rally the troops in the Good Place" theory.

It'll be interesting to see what they say the results are. Even though John and Simone ditched them at the end, Brent seemed to really start questioning if he was really awesome in the last few seconds. But John still was able to bond with Tahani and control his gossiping. I don't know if Simone has actually gotten better at all, so that might be the real trouble, that the one they were most confident about actually was hardened against thinking anything was wrong with her behavior.

This was a great episode, I loved Simone realizing that something was up with the others, and them recreating the big reveal from the end of Season 1 was fun.
Brent seemed like he was actually reconsidering if he was a good or bad person, so it will be interesting to see where he goes next.

I think the post-show is part of those 90 minutes, and the finale itself is only an hour.

It's cool that they're doing this. Seth did the same thing for Parks and Recreation, only on his own show rather than a special. It was a lot of fun.

I did like this episode. It was the first one that seemed paced the way previous seasons had been. So that means we're into the meat of the season now, & I'm genuinely intrigued to know where it's going, even if they couldn't win the experimentees over fully, before they spoiled the experiment. I never really thought the experiment was going to work anyhow, & the final act has to be about much more than that imho. I'm glad we're getting there
January 30th? Does that mean there is a month hiatus around Christmas time?
Actually, the last episode before the break looks to air on 11/21. Then the final 5 will begin again in January 2020. So 5 weeks with no episodes :(
... I think I will just go pat myself on the back.
Well, technically it wasn't just finding out he wasn't in the Good Place, because even after that he was just dumb & confused abut it. What it took was somone who had done a legitimately selfless good thing for him explaining to him that he's a bad person, & then him having to accept that someone outside himself is allowed their own perspective on him, & it doesn't look good. I think that made the difference, & why there was a genuine apology forthcoming
He needs see the truth of who he is, & how that's not good for anyone, including himself. He needs to have a crisis of conscience, the way everyone of original 4 did.
So I'm going to declare that a victory for both of us lol :D
One big suspension of disbelief in this show is that nobody in the history of the show, upon arrival in the afterlife, has ever inquired if they can see their dead friends and relatives.
Well, to be fair, only 7 humans have ever been introduced. They haven't had any loss of friends or family, that I recall, and spent their lives self-centered anyhow. Heck, every last one of them is inordinately young for having died. It's fair to assume imho that they hadn't even really given death all that much thought. So, it's a very select sample size

I’m around the age of most of them or a little younger and I’ve lost three grandparents and a handful of friends. If I arrived in heaven one of the first things on my mind would be “How they doing, can I see them?”

I howled at this line. Love when the show lobs little salvos like these.

Placing Simone in the Eleanor role in the reenactment of the season 1 finale was so great. Wonder if Jason's new found incite is a normal progression. i hope it is. It's about time Jason showed some real growth.

I thought there were only 8 episodes this season so glad to hear I was very wrong about that.
