The Good In Every Episode, ENTERPRISE Edition...

Farscape One

All STAR TREK series have had their share of clunkers. And everyone has a different list of what they consider bad episodes. There are, of course, some that are universally reviled. But even those can have something positive about them.

So here is a challenge...

Every episode each of you consider a bad one, I want you to find something positive about it.

I want to do this for every series, and I already started one for VOYAGER.

I will begin.

"PRECIOUS CARGO" - I never liked this episode. Guest star was a terrible choice, and the situation was rather ridiculous. The only positive I can think of is that it was a nice callback to TNG's "The Perfect Mate", which was a FAR better episode in every way... story, situation, casting. Timeline of 200 years between the female metamorphs being born was a nice touch, and likely why they chose that episode as a story for ENTERPRISE. At least that part of continuity was right.

cool idea, maybe this will help us find good in episodes we tend to skip :)

Season 3 - Rajiin - I liked the performance from the guest star but the story itself felt flat. I loved the alien marketplace , getting a nice look at a non federation civilian world was a great treat.

Cool thread!

I maintain that there's something to like in even the drekkiest episode. So I'll start with...the drekkiest episode, "These Are The Voyages."

Hmm... okay, T'Pol's hair was pretty.

Seriously, there was the lovely montage of ships at the end with all the captains reciting the "To boldly go" speech.

Terra Nova: I don't care for this episode. It was an early one and it showed. It was SHALE!

BUT it had an interesting bit of backstory between First Contact and Enterprise and I liked the Conestoga.

"BREAKING THE ICE" - This episode is not bad as much as it seems to drag. For me, I did really like when they were responding to those kids' questions, especially when it was Tucker's turn.

My favorite part of the show was Trip reading T'Pol's letter and telling her about it.I like she took his advice and stayed aboard Enterprise.I also liked that Archer finally took T'pol's advice and asked the Vulcans for help and got over his stubborn pride.

“fight or flight” has that ridiculous subplot about “sluggo” the alien slug. in the end he’s taken to a planet that’s hospitable to his slug-kind. and a beautiful, legit tear-jerking rendition of “faith of the heart” played on flute is heard over his heavily green-screened departure. it’s one of the few times the song is heard outside the show’s main title and it’s a wonderful, melancholic melody.

and it’s the melody to an insipid song that should never have been the show’s main title, played over a ridiculous scene in a totally mediocre episode. it may be the scene i’ve rewatched the most in the series.

Stormfront episodes 1 and 2 - it took the Nazi invasion of the USA to break down racial barriers in 1940's New York ......ironic huh.

"DAEDALUS" - This was never a good episode to me, one of only two of the 4th season I really dislike... the other being the finale.

But the performance of Bill Cobbs was great and at least believable.
