Many good comments, again I feel like sharing but not having anything more to add.
Just one thing I didn't see mentioned, I know it's not said on screen, but that big fellow thrall, he seems to be of the same people that Captain Pike fought on Rigel, a Kalar. I thought that was a nice touch, reusing a species we hadn't seen in a while. It also mentioned this on Memory Alpha at one time but I see the Cannon Cops put an end to that. I think he looks close enough to me to be the same kind.

WOW! I never thought of that myself, that Kloog could be a Kalar as seen in The Menagerie! Good call, Marsden!
