Spoilers The game changing Voq theory

2015. It was the first thing I did.

I can't find anything else on google, except some Celebrity Ancestry site.

So it might not be accurate.

Maybe. But I don't think time travellers are editing his wiki page to further this theory. There's no reason to give him the birth name Shazad Iqbal in 2015 unless it was true or an honest mistake.

I just meant there is nothing to back it up in general.

Oh right. I forgot we already had an inexplicably-designed biological being that can somehow "sense danger" on the show, besides Lorca's tribble. That means they must find a way to incapacitate Saru before he and Tyler meet.

Man, this makes me wish we could have Saru and Troi do a sit-down one day. I think they would really understand each other's plight!

Maybe we'll get that via the holodeck in the series finale. A "Haven"-era Troi retreats to a holonovel of the Discovery's last mission, to help her decide whether or not to go through with her arranged marriage to Wyatt Miller...

This is Alexander Siddigs real name: Siddig El Tahir El Fadil El Siddig Abderrahman Mohammed Ahmed Abdel Karim El Mahdi. It's possible that Shazad's full name is Shazid Javid iqbal latif or another combination of all four.

It has been in Wiki for two years. It's highly unlikely that someone would not have corrected, or atleast removed it by now if it was not confirmed somehow.

 After taking counsel with my pillow and looking up YouTube clips of Shazad Latif/Iqbal on Penny Dreadful you guys almost have me so far as to believe in this idea. Maybe it really is him under the makeup. If this turns out to be true, though, it's kind of a shame that people were able to figure this out before it happens on the show, as this is a really cool twist.

I just started watching TOS Errand of Mercy. Have been catching up on the old series because it's been far too long. Well, anyways, it turns out that Kor is the front and center Klingon and he boasts about a "Mind-Ripper": a device the Klingons can use which strips the victim of all of their knowledge and memories. It's essentially a way to gain intel. If they have the tech to do that, then I don't doubt that it's possible they could also re-implant those memories in a different mind. So either we get a spy with all the knowledge s/he needs, or a Manchurian candidate situation. Perfect way to infiltrate.

Mhh, that explains why Shazad Latif appears without a beard in that short video promo we saw of him some weeks ago, while he appears bearded in all other photos from the show and photos of the actor: When the video was filmed, he was still shooting scenes as Voq, requiring him to be beardless for the Klingon make-up.

Ha, this possibly means Discovery Klingons can have hair! :D

I'm pretty convinced this theory is true. Only way it would not be is if this is some sort of insanely complicated meta double fake out, and they wanted us to figure this out and the real big twist is something else.

I'd also add that Latif's eye spacing matches Voq's better than Iqbal's does.

I have a feeling it’s going to go down something like this:

- Tilly discovers Tyler’s identity (we’ve already established that Tilly is very good at observation)
- Tyler kills or severely injures Tilly

THIS! Definitelly this!

Damn I hate this Tilly character and how she says she wants to be a Captain(achieved no less by "being everybody's"). That's an even worse plotline than having your (pretty awesome in looks and abilities, who gave her that flat role to kill her in favor of Latif? What a waste! Similar to overhyping T'Kuvma only to kill him shortly after, obviously, "for the shock value".)damn Security officer killed by what is basically a glorified dust bug(what's next? Discovery is really a giant mutant mosquito and people in it are parasites??) when that's quite possibly the best new ship of Starfleet(as the writers are implying) and crucial to the war. The security officer had to be stable and kick-ass, to add credibility imo.

The sooner they get rid of her the better. Voq-Tyler along with Saru, Stamets and Lorca are the only elements of interest atm(I believe the attempt to base the series on SMG has backfired as it feels considerably forced so far).

I actually like Tilly. Doesn't mean I don't think they're going to kill her.

It would be a shame to kill Tilly, because she's the likeliest candidate for character growth on the series. People grow up and get more confident all the time, but they seldom stop being jerks.

I think Burnham and Saru are the two likeliest, both at odds philosophically with Lorca, but instead of being together in this they are also at odds with each other, I think there is going to be tons of growth here.

also, the whole "redemption from mutineering thing" seems far more likely for growth to me.
