Spoilers The game changing Voq theory

Shazad Latif did such an awesome job communicating the trauma of Tyler's captivity, in a way I was disappointed it's just a cover, because it would be a great story for real! That scene where he confesses to Lorca why he's still alive, fantastic. I've seen about a billion stories of female characters recovering from some variety of sexual-predator-kidnapping, and very rarely have I seen that story with a male.

To be fair, with anyone OTHER than Trek fans, I think this reveal would have been never figured out and I'm certainly not spoiling my wife.

I totally agree. I'm not spoiling my IRL friends who are also watching. It's interesting how strong a mislead the opening credits are. It really does camouflage the tells -- in some universe where these things air without credits and there is no press and you come in totally cold, I think you'd figure out fast that Tyler is Voq. But the way this actually plays, with the "and here's the intro to our last regular" thing they're doing, that just overrides the rest of it. It's a really smart manipulation of the way shows are experienced today.

Let say that Ash Tyler is Voq. As Ash Tyler, he is a very attractive human. I want to see either Stamets, his doctor boyfriend or Burnham's redhead roommate go crazy over him. That would be interesting.

Word of god is there's going to be "a relationship" with Burnham.

I'm sure Lorca's tribble will go the most crazy over Tyler.

I find it funny that so many people apparently want this "Ash Tyler is Voq" thing to be true that they're accepting the events of Choose Your Pain as confirmation that it's happening even though there's still little to no evidence (not speculation and assumptions) that it's actually happening.

Discovery? So far they've aired about four hours of unexceptional, banal television.
Seriously, what is your point 'infesting' EVERY single thread with your, with respect, banal negativity towards a show most of us here are starting to love......? We get it now, you hate the show.....

That would be sad. Sorry, but Stamets and his partner are professional officers. Not teenagers.

I read a tweet to one of the Star Trek twitter pages, and they made the supposition that Ash is short for Ieshua, or Yeshua from the Bible.

In reading up on him, it says he's...

The son of Nun.

Either this person really reached, or hit things way close to the mark.

Last episode was 6 months after BotBS. Choose your Pain said it has been 7 months, meaning there has been a 1 month gap. I think that is a long enough period for Voq to have undergone the transformation.

The strongest evidence, as was stated, is that Ash Tyler says he's survived as a prisoner on the ship for seven months because L'Rell has "taken a liking to him." We know L'Rell had been stranded with Voq onboard his ship for six months, and must have only gotten onto this ship in the past few weeks. Ergo, Ash Tyler is lying at the very least, even if he isn't Voq.

Also, strongest evidence physically is eye shape, at least to say that it's the same actor with and without makeup.

So it looks like most us us were right, yet some here still hold out they are not the same. Voq is Tyler! How much more narrative evidence do you need in Choose Your Pain.
