The Future of "Novel-Only" Lines

It looks like we might be getting our first glimpse of what the post-Picard and Lower Decks novels might look like.
They've officially announced the two new books teased back at one of the online conventions earlier this year.
They are Revenant by Alex R. White, a DS9 novel focused on Jadzia Dax and Kira Nerys, and Shadows Have Offended by Casandra Rose Clarke, a TNG novel focused on Beverly Crusher, Deanna Troi, and Worf, set during Season 7.
I know a lot of people are probably going to take this as another sign of the death of the Novelverse, but I'm still optimistic, there are still 10 months for other books next year.

The new books sound good, no matter how they do or do not tie into other stuff.

We're likely only getting eight novels, so that leaves six additional slots. Assuming one TOS novel, one Disco and one Picard, we're down to three remaining slots.

I'm pleasantly surprised they're publishing new TNG and DS9 novels -- I honestly thought there was a good chance we were only going to see TOS, DIS, and PIC for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, I have my doubts. It's nice to see a new TNG novel and what I assume would be a DS9 novel based on it being centered around Dax and Kira (I'd love to think that was my longed for DS9 finale but somehow I doubt it). And some new authors as well.

But that would leave even less room for continuing litverse novels. I just don't see it happening, except maybe the occasionally hinted at Data/Lal TNG novel.

Since it's about Jadzia Dax, it's obviously a TV series era DS9 novel. Sometime during the first six seasons at that. Even likelier to be set during the first five seasons, makes it easier to squeeze the story between episodes.

I am more curious about Ezri Dax on the Aventine.
I wanted a series about that as well; with a lighter tone as was shown in Takedown. That had some Lower Decks style humor in it. Like the guy whose job was to replace the lights that light up the name of the ship.

But we still had to put something out, so there was a brief flirtation with doing stuff that was ambiguous and could go either way, or go its own way with little regard for continuity. After all, if there could be two timelines, there could be more.
I would be 400% on board with an ongoing TOS AU novel series. The ultimate Myriad Universe.

Yeah, that's right. Forgot for a moment that a DS9 novel taking place in the litverse would not include Jadzia. Duh.

Though I really had no expectations it would be a litverse DS9 novel anyway.

There's nothing to stop Jadzia from being in a Novelverse novel, the novels all use the show as their backstory, so Jadzia is just as much a part of the Novelverse as Ezri. It would just have to take place during the first six seasons of the show, rather than after it.
