The frontpage for ST day 2023 at startrek.com does not have Kirk nor Spock in the banner

Sisko, I'm guessing '90s Trek representation and maybe they want to work in more DS9.
Could also be compensating for all the times Sisko's been neglected over the years. Like with the first promos for Enterprise that aired the night of Voyager's finale. "Before Kirk. Before Picard. Before Janeway. There was Enterprise.
As far as I know, the Shat has either shat on New Trek even though he hasn't seen it, or he's been civil at best. He was the most cordial when he told Paul Wesley congratulations. So I'm not getting the sense that the relationship between William Shatner and Kurtzman Trek is anything too buddy-buddy.
The only time I remember Shatner even acknowledging the new shows, aside from when he gave Paul Wesley his blessing, was back in 2017 when he and Jason Isaacs got into some weird Twitter feud.

Whoever did the art for the animation celebration included Murf from PRO (below Kirk's phaser. ) . I wonder how old the art is compare to the pulling of PRO from P+?

I’m sure Sisko is there because he was the lead of the show and he represents the first African American lead character of a Trek show.

Same as Janeway being there in part because she was the first Woman to lead a Trek show.

So is Martin Luther King Jr, but you don't see him omitted in MLK day. This is an outrage.
It's Star Trek Day, not Kirk Day.

If anything, Spock connects more of Trek together: "The Cage", TOS, TAS, TMP-TUC, TNG, Kelvin, DSC, SNW, even PRO. And Spockmania was a real thing. "I Grok Spock!"

Or Riker, since Jonathan Frakes has been part of almost every series, one way or another.

A friend who went to the Lower Decks episode screenings said they advertised Prodigy between episodes

Must have been planned a while ago

You know who is missing the most on that poster. Captain Mercer. Star Trek: Orville was really disrespected with this poster/picture.

It is kind of weird though in that Kirk and Spock are Trek's two most iconic characters. I think Data is pretty Iconic as well. Not sure why they couldn't just put more people in the picture. Seemed liked enough space. I do think DS9 the space station or at least the Defiant should have been off on the side as well. Or maybe also Worf. Not just because he is another icon but also for some Klingon rep.

Just wait - in five decades from now, imagine all five hundred iconic figures who won't be plastered on a placard next to the fifty who are and the resultant furore over that!

I'm pretty sure not all those characters we be iconic. In 50 years I wonder what people will think about with regards to past Trek. It could be that Kirk and Spock might be the only two that is still remembered.

Kirk and Spock are pretty much the only characters people in general remember now. Picard to an extent too. And that is mostly because of the actors. Everybody loves Patrick Stewart…some love Shatner, some despise him, some just tolerate him. But everyone knows him. Nimoy just IS Spock.

And I can’t imagine that changing in another 50 years. Star Trek isn’t Star Wars or Marvel in this regard.

If their aim is still to bring in new viewers, maybe leaving Kirk and Spock off the poster once in a while is a good idea.
