Spoilers The Flash - Season 3

I also thought that was weird, though there would still be time for Iris to divorce or become a widow. Barry could have been husband #2 (or higher).
I had more of an issue with Caitlin and Ronnie having a baby. I just don't buy them having kids after Ronnie becoming Firestorm. Caitlin spent all that time trying to get over Ronnie's death. And the singularity that killed Ronnie wasn't really Barry's fault, as it was part of getting rid of the Reverse Flash, not some of delayed teen angst Barry still struggled with....

You misremember. Eobard was captured and safely locked up, and everything was fine, but noooo, Barry had to rewrite over a decade of history to save one person while putting the entire world at risk in the process, thereby making him the Arrowverse's original supervillain. The singularity resulted from Eddie killing himself after Barry freed Eobard to help him do this, making Ronnie's death very, very much his fault.

maybe not, but Barry blamed himself for his death heavily.
It was the reason for Barry effectively running solo for months between seasons.

Yeah, that was the whole point of what the Speed Force was trying to impart -- not that Barry deserved to be blamed for these deaths, but that he didn't deserve to wallow in guilt for them as much as he did, and that he needed to let go of that guilt and move on.

I think Savatar is a future Jay Garrick that has spent a very long time in the speed force prison. If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Being tortured for an eternity in the speed force could have warped Jay Garrick to turn him into Savatar. It explains the "I am the future flash" comment. It explains how Savatar knows Team Flash. It explains how Savatar says that he created himself. It explains Savatar's comment about Barry being there when he became Savatar. And it would explain Savatar's god complex.
^^^
Yes, I think you're right because that would allow this Season to dovetail with "Rescuing Jay ends the Savatar menace..."; and they move on to the new 'threat' of Season 3. ;)

Oh, and the whole thing with the 2024 article byline change is a red herring in that (IMO) the reason it changed is Iris was KILLED by Savatar. In other words, once they have Barry (or how ever they do it) 'save' her - THEN her name will re-appear in the byline.

Um, yeah, that's been the whole point of stopping Savitar. So he won't get to kill Iris. They only mention it EVERY EPISODE.

Iris could just be on maternity leave.

Meanwhile, as far as future foreknowledge goes, Iris could be alive, but not completely happy with present day, and know that the timeline will shift if she wilfully chooses not to write the story.

It's her failsafe rip cord.

I've said before that Grodd could make a good seasonal big bad, manipulating his mind-controlled puppets from behind the scenes and only gradually being revealed as the mastermind. I also thought Abra Kadabra had possibilities as a big bad, but they're using him soon in a one-shot appearance, so that seems less likely now. I wonder what other prospects there are.

It's a pity that things got to the point where this was not only headline-worthy, but met with thunderous applause.

They really have to go this way though. The Show has been a mess this season and they need to almost start over and change the status quo. I would thunderously applause too.

Clip from Tuesday's musical special. Looks fun. Love the line about going back in time to fix a mistake and Barry pauses and says "I am not supposed to do that anymore". LOL. And Barry and Kara always look so cute together:

Benoist looks so gorgeous here. Really excited about this episode.

Hm... is a Kryptonian capable of speed a speedster?

Not the way the term is used in DC-dom. It refers to someone whose powers are specifically speed-related, and particularly someone empowered by the Speed Force.

So are you suggesting that the Flash season 4 big bad could be a Kryptonian? Like, maybe Zod or Jax-Ur? We don't know if Krypton even exists in Earth-1's universe, but it's possible it just hasn't blown up yet. Still, that seems an unlikely direction.

It seems to me that an actual speedster should be faster than any kryptonian, even supergirl or superman. Kryptonians are fast only because they have superhuman strength which they can apply to running but a speedster is fast because they are infused by the Speed Force itself. They have energy flowing through their body from another dimension.

Or Kryptonians are naturally in tune with the Speed Force.

Sure, why not? Villains without any speed can more or less work as FOTWs, but they can also be pretty awkward, as when Snart and Mick pose a threat to the Barry who's fast enough to make and give half a dozen people their coffees in under a second, but apparently can't just run up and yank away their weapons. Besides, who says S4 needs exactly one overarching Big Bag? Agents of SHIELD doesn't. ;)
