I had the same thought, even though you are off with the year.... but it really does beg the thought, is it possible that the 1990s show's Barry Allen tried to change something, and screwed up his timeline so badly in the past, that his parents never even got married and that his mother's name was (coincidentally) Nora Garrick?
I prefer to believe that the '90 series is in the DC Animated Universe, so I'd like to think that reality is still out there as its own parallel Earth. Its Barry Allen is simply another doppelganger of Earth-1's Henry Allen and Earth-3's Jay Garrick.
The way I understood it, it's a byproduct of the person being "reborn" as or merged as their parallel earth counterpart?Back on topic, did they actually explain what is going on with those "husks" ?

Or Jay Garrick could simply be an alias that he's adopted for some reason.
I don't generally indulge in the kinds of fan theorizing that tie little bits of coincidence and in-jokes from tv shows and movies together to "prove" something secret about them - but I'll happily sign on to whatever lazy and implausible hypothesis someone cooks up to make Jay Garrick on this show into Barry Allen from the 90s version. I like the idea that much.![]()

I don't really notice any stylistic or tonal similarities between the 1990s show and the AU....
in fact, wouldn't they be at direct odds, considering the AU has Wally firmly in the Flash role, right down to the chemical accident and CSI job?
Total side tangent, but do you believe GL:TAS could be part of the AU? Hal makes reference to the new guy, Stewart, who could be covering on Earth in the JL while Hal is in space. But, they had already given Hal's origin to Kyle Raynor. But, in GL:TAS, we skip Hal's origin completely.

They established on Earth 1 via Barry's Dad that Garrick is a family name, so its a bit more then *just* an alias....and since the 1990s Flash show had Barry (Henry's) parents as Henry and Nora as well, that would make her Nora Garrick, and Henry (on Earth 1) a Jr, if you continue playing with the parallels.
In warning Barry, Jay Garrick implies heavily that he learned all of this the hard way.... so what secret messes and mistakes did HE make in the last 25 years?![]()
No, because there are other characters and entities that were presented in incompatible ways between the two -- Kilowog, Star Sapphire, Sinestro, the Manhunters, Oa, etc. Also, there's an Easter Egg in S:TAS: "In Brightest Day" suggesting that Hal Jordan is still just a test pilot when Kyle Rayner gets Abin Sur's ring -- and JLU later establishes that Stewart was a GL before Rayner. Conversely, GL:TAS's Guy Gardner name-drops John Stewart as a new recruit succeeding Hal as the GL of Sector 2814.
So, on the current show Barry's middle name is "Henry" - do we know what his father's full name is, or what the 1990s TV character's full name was?
People who pass a family name down don't necessarily attach "junior" or numerals to it - my father's family considered that pretentious, despite at least three generations of men having the exact same name (the history gets a bit murky).
Maybe there is some justice league that I don't remember, then ... I don't remember all or much of that being introduced on JL/JLU.... when does JLU establish that Stewart came first? I assumed Raynor, then Stewart.
GL:TAS could be set *before* Justice League, perhaps....
Does JL ever identify their Star Stapphire as Carol, when they don't even use Hal?
Gonna go rewatch Speed Demon now just to listen for the musical cue...
It was so great seeing Julio as the Captain.... best part of the premiere, for sure.
have just caught up - this really is the most zeitgeist show on the TV - it's about how women/POC have to pick up the pieces after a entitled white man-child does what he wants.

I don't see how, Barry is trying to fix it on his own, not let other people deal with it.
That seems a bit premature. If the complaints were about the changes in attitude in the last episode, it's worth keeping in mind that things are or are at least on their way back to status quo by the end.I want my show back...
All these changes has completely ruined all the fun in the show, its not the show I got hooked on and the ratings collapse would seem to indicate, I am not the only one.
...againMaybe the Legends will be called in to keep Barry from screwing up history.
