Spoilers The Flash - Season 2

Her enthusiasm was for that particular candidate...she saw him as being the better qualified successor.

Nominally, yes, but her emotional investment in it seemed more intense than you'd think from that alone. Particularly since, as I said, it basically meant that she was gung-ho about finding a replacement for the husband whose death she was mourning, which was frankly pretty bizarre. Maybe she was overcompensating, trying to hide from her pain at Ronnie's death by pretending that he was just an interchangeable part, but it still felt emotionally incongruous and it should've been addressed. I would've expected her to be the voice of restraint, the one who resisted the idea of just finding some other guy out of the blue to replace Ronnie. That would've had an understandable character motivation behind it. This... either there's some deeper emotional complexity behind it that didn't get addressed clearly enough, or it was just out-of-character writing in service to rushing the plot along.

Decent episode made better by the ending, and the trailer for next week's episode with the "Harry's Back". I'm glad we're done with the firestorm story for now, as well as the whole Francine drama (Iris has really become a great character this season). Hopefully starting next week we can get back to the Multi-verse story and with Cavanagh back full time things will get interesting again.

Caitlin was clearly prejudged against for not being a scientist. I recall Superman facing a man shark villain back in the late '70s, but I was surprised that they didn't pick up on the SNL land shark joke. And the show has fallen in the Clark/Lana trap with Barry and Iris. Patty and Joe don't act like partners, they hardly have any contact with each other at all, but then the same was true for Joe ane Eddie last season at times.

Apologize if this has been discussed, but one thing that blows my mind is how is it that when Caitlin finds out that the blackhole that killed Ronnie is actually a portal to another Earth, the thought doesn't even cross her mind that maybe he's alive and can be rescued?

The black hole was not a portal to another world.

It was a paradox cleaner.

Busting the paradox cleaner cracked the wall to their neighbours front yard.

I think that Stein is her last connection to Ronnie. In a way she probably feels that a part of Ronnie lives in him or he may be a key to retrieving Ronnie in the future.

That makes sense, but there should've been a scene explaining that, because it seems inconsistent otherwise.

I enjoyed this one overall, but it did have a few issues.
The search for the new 2nd half of Firestorm was a good story. Although it did seem a little hard to believe that they didn't bother to do a background check on the scientist. I think it might have worked better if they had given them a more specific reason not to do one or at least miss the results, like something caused them to be slowed down or something.
The storyline with Iris's mother revealing she's dying is a little cliched, but it did get some good performances out of the actors. It's also a nice, quick way to bring Wally in.
Loved King Shark. I didn't watch the episode until this morning, so I'd already seen spoilers about him, but seeing him in motion onscreen was even better than the pictures. Anybody heard anything about who the voice for him was?
I'm really happy they're having Barry run into E2 Wells. I've been anxious for that since we first saw Wells a couple episodes back.

In all fairness, Cisco did say Henry's criminal record was sealed and it took him a little longer to "unseal" them. Doesn't excuse the immediate tour of Flash HQ before they thoroughly vetted him, but at least they tried to explain it away with some dialogue.

As I suggested before, I think that Caitlin's odd gung-ho attitude was why they rushed the process. I recall Barry (or someone) questioning Caitlin's decision to bring Hewitt into the lab so abruptly.

According to IMDb, King Shark was voiced by an uncredited David Hayter, the X-Men/Watchmen screenwriter who's also the voice of "Solid Snake" in the Metal Gear video games, as well as having played both Captain America (in the '90s Spider-Man animated series) and Winter Soldier (in the Marvel Heroes game).

The way I see it, she wasn't going to be so petty as to try to obstruct a chance to save Prof. Stein's life...but if they were going to replace Ronnie in the Firestorm matrix, she was invested in picking what she saw as the more worthy candidate.

Yeah, but she didn't have to be so gung-ho and hasty about it. She didn't come off as "invested," she came off as driven and blinded.
