If we don't draw a line in the sand, shit like this happens.

Note, this Earth was touched on in CW Crisis, where Doomsday killed Superman.

All all singing, all dancing Doomsday. :)

 That musical was awful. It would have been a perfect fit with Legends of the Superheroes--

But Leslie was a nifty Lois, and it's nice to see Loretta outside of Mash.

Lesley Ann Warren was good in almost every role.

    OTOH, David Wilson as "Superman"...well....

Probably because a lot of the reaction to Snyder was that it wasn't done like Reeve/Donner, it was different from them, from that, so it sucks.

Although it is interesting that Singer loved the Donner movie and still felt the character pretty much needed to be moodier and angtsy-er pretty much as Snyder also did.

A an in between or different option I like early Smallville a lot and it was pretty widely accepted by comics/Donner fans but I think it would be a lot less accepted, a lot more rejected as not idealized/idealistic enough if it had been released 10-15 years later.

I should know better, I just got frustrated in the moment, this whole topic has just become toxic af lately and zero fun. Can we ignore keywords? I need to ignore any comment that has "Snyder", "Donner", "Reeve","Cavill", "78" or "Man of Steel", in it; I just don't have the willpower to do it manually. :) But I still want to read other Superman comments if possible, maybe for my sanity I just need to chuck them all.

Yes, but only because both the Snyder and Donner versions of Superman are in it.

Sure, then the conversation can shift to comparisons between the Haase, Shipp, Gustin, and Miller versions and their takes on the character and the value of their productions...or not.

Of course. As long as you make sure to either praise or degrade Snyder every two sentences and make sure you have no room in your way of thinking to allow others to have a different opinion than yours. Otherwise you're not a proper DC-fan.

I thought "The Flash" had a few good moments. But overall, I thought it was one of the most inconsistent comic book productions I have ever seen. Worse, I found the humor heavy-handed. It almost seemed as if Miller's Barry Allen had returned to Whedon's take on the role in the 2017 movie.

That's the thing. Miller's Barry is inherently funny no matter who's directing.

The DCEU's Flash worked when his insecure nature hobbled (slightly) his natural leaning toward heroism (ZSJL), instead of the scattered goof he was in the theatrical version, and unfortunately, some moments of his solo film.

Though I would never put the Whedon version over the Snyder cut, I have to confess there are Barry jokes that I miss from the 2017 version, such as the railroad quip and "Dostoevsky!" Unfortunately the latter comes at the end of the Russian family sequence, and I certainly wouldn't want all that restored just to get the Dostoevsky joke. I also miss the Pet Sematary references. What replaced them in ZSJL ( the bucket list thing ) wasn't as good, but like I was saying, Miller makes it funny if only by the way he delivers the line.

I think they were trying to self-critique, with the "Present" Barry getting upset as the immature goofball the "Past" Barry was. Like they were criticizing the Whedon Flash that way.

    Didn't quite work.

You pretty much pointed out my issues with Barry Allen in this film. The scattered goof from the 2017 theatrical version came out a bit too much for my tastes.

The original musical (It's A Bird, It's A Plane, It's Superman) was great and was acclaimed by critics when it came out in 1966 (although it was a financial flop), but this TV production was such a POS and then some (the opening alone sucked.)

Here's the history of the actual musical: It's A Bird, It's A Plane, It's Superman

I rewatched this last night on bluray and again I enjoyed it. Far from perfect, but an entertaining 2 hours.

I wonder if the other universes were repaired at the end or the collisions meant they were screwed? And did Barry create the Burtonverse with his meddling or was this just a messy mishmash-verse?

    He totally created the Burtonverse.
