The Five Doctors, What Happened to Baker?

"It really would help if there wasn't some skinny idiot shouting about every little thing that happened to be in front of him!"

"I'm definitely not the man I was.......thank goodness..."
-5th Doctor

or Pertwee describing Tom Baker as "All teeth & curls."

This was my favourite line from "The Five Doctors" because it obviously implies that 3 met 4 at some point in his life, either that or somehow the Doctor knows what all his future incarnations look like!

I thought "Five Doctors" showed the incarnations existing in a kind of afterlife where they were aware of what came after their death. The scene where Troughton meets with Brigadier and they talk about old times years past.

  • 1st Doctor was pulled from a specific episode scene, I forget which one.

  • 2nd Doctor was (supposedly) pulled from the "Season 6b" solution to post-War Games appearances for Troughton's Doctor.

  • 3rd Doctor was pulled from some unknown time on Earth. Based on the scene, there's no way to tell when. He mentions “that fellow in the check trousers and black frock-coat”, suggesting it is sometime after The Three Doctors. Thus, in his present, Sarah-Jane is probably his companion. Then, he meets this much older Sarah-Jane Smith in the Death Zone. As to how or why he knows the "teeth and curls" bit, any guess is good. My guess is he ran into Four at some point, or had some peek into the future.

  • 4th Doctor was pulled from Shada, the unfinished episode.

  • 5th Doctor was pulled from somewhere between The King's Demons and Warriors from the Deep.

From Wikipedia.org:

The Third Doctor reacts to Sarah's mimed description of the Fourth Doctor by saying, "Teeth and curls?" and telling her the change has not happened yet for him. Although the Third Doctor may just be interpreting her gestures, his accuracy has led some fans to believe that it implies a previous unseen encounter with the Fourth Doctor. According to Lis Sladen, on the twenty-fifth anniversary DVD commentary, the line was supposed to be Sladen's, but Pertwee negotiated with her for him to say it instead, leading to the problem.

Then what happened in Time Crash?

5 thought 10 was a "fan".

Plus Ten was confused as to whether David Morrissey was the Doctor in The Next Doctor

Well, the "timelords recognize timelords" thing must just be a plot device then.

Used when convenient and then forgotten.

Nah, I think it's easier to assume that The Third and Fourth Doctors had an unseen adventure together.

Then why isn't Jamie with him? ;)

I always thought that the 2nd Doctor briefly escaped from the Time Lords after "The War Games" but they eventually caught up to him and forced his regeneration. (In the comics, AFAIK, this is exactly what happens.) His scenes in TFD would be set during that time.

As for new actors to play existing Doctors:

Sir Ian McKellen as the 1st Doctor. You know you want it.

^Too tall. ;)

As for why Jamie isn't with him, simple: he hadn't gone and picked him back up yet, OR, he had dropped him off. Knowing it was near his end, he visits The Brigadier's retirement party? Who knows...
