Star Trek is holding strong in the #5 and #8 positions respectively, where it has rested comfortably for quite a few weeks. It doesn't look like it's in danger of being ousted from these spots anytime soon; there was some speculation that X-Men Origins: Wolverine would overtake Trek on the global front, what with its recent opening in Japan, but that doesn't look to be the case, unless it proves to have serious legs at the Japanese box office (Wolverine has, however, managed to slightly eclipse Terminator Salvation with this new boost, although once the dust settles and all the results are tallied, that might change).
Are there any other films coming out this year that might actually surpass Star Trek? Hard to say... maybe Avatar, although I personally think the buzz on that may have cooled somewhat after some people weren't as impressed with the trailer as they hoped they'd be. Nevertheless, it remains a fairly strong contender. Anything else? Perhaps 2012, if it actually doesn't turn out to suck. Roland Emmerich's last disaster flick, The Day After Tomorrow, made about $544 million worldwide back in 2004, so it's not impossible (of course, that was a summer movie, and there might be less goodwill towards Emmerich after last year's 10,000 B.C., which wasn't a disaster flick, but it was a disaster of a flick; I'd imagine, though, that the average moviegoer wouldn't even realize he directed both, so that may not be a factor). I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah, it looks like the trend of each X-Men film doing progressively worse in Japan continued in a major way with Wolverine.
I think the main contenders to pass Trek are "Avatar" and "New Moon" domestically. Worldwide, they both definitely will, and maybe the Michael Jackson documentary, "This is It," assuming they extend its run which is likely considering its massive ticket pre-sales.

Oh yeah, I forgot about New Moon -- it only has to do a little better than its predecessor to outgross Trek at the global level. And yes, Avatar is pretty much certain to pass Trek's worldwide total as well.

It's actually amazing to see some of the numbers for This is It.

A TREK movie being #5 or thereabouts for the whole year? *NO* TREK movie has ever done that I don't think, unless TMP and/or TVH managed those feats in 1979/80 and 1986/87 seeing how relatively huge they were when they were each released.
Star Trek IV was the #5 movie released in 1986. Trek XI will probably end up #6 or #7.
