The Final Ongoing Star Trek Box Office Thread

What is his third-highest grossing film? TERMINATOR 2? That one broke $200 million domestic before it left theaters back in '91. I think T2 would rank as his third-most-successful movie.

Yeah T2 made $520 million worldwide in 1991, which would be about $900+ million adjusted.

What's crazy is that Titanic adjusted is $950 million just domestically...freakin' ticket prices.

UGH. Makes one wonder where 2009 TREK will end up in ten or fifteen years' time adjusted for inflation. Damn thing will likely drop out of the top 100 domestic movies by then.:p

Yeah, there are only 31 movies in the Top 100 that were released before 2000, and only 12 released before 1990. Gone with the Wind is still hanging out at #98 at the moment.

Which is really impressive to say the LEAST...considering it's still in the Adjusted Top 100 after *71 years*. That movie was the STAR WARS combined with TITANIC for its era, hands down.

No, GWTW is #98 on the unadjusted list...It will forever be #1 on the adjusted list.

Oh, that's right! My bad! I got the lists transposed!

That makes it even MORE impressive than it already WAS in my last comment! It was all six STAR WARS movies rolled up into one when it came to 1939-40 box office.

Avatar now has $1.34 billion worldwide, and will pass Titanic's $1.8 billion (unadjusted). Boxofficeguru is projecting that it will end with around $581 million domestically.

^
Which will put it just a mere $20 million behind TITANIC, which currently sits at just a tiny smidge under $601 million domestic.

I'm getting pretty sure Avatar will Beat Titanic's $601 million.

After next weekend (MLK), Avatar will be at $490 million or more... And still #1 at the box office. With IMAX 3D theaters booked until March, it will have a long run.

You may be right. It's already passed STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE...and once you do that you cross into a new realm of moviedom where you are seemingly capable of just about any feat.
