I know Brittany Murphy was cast in the film but her part was cut out last year.

Definitely lives up to my expectations. Incredibly awesome and badass action movie. Accelerates your beard growth and makes you crave red meat. :p

When I saw it for the second time this afternoon I inexplicably made a pass at two different women.
Odd side effects after seeing this movie.

Re: The Expendables (Stallone, Statham, Li, Lundgren) Grading & Discus

A lot of anti-Expendables naysayers were saying Scott Pilgrim was gonna kick The Expendables ass. Expendables opens #1 and Scott Pilgrim opens #5. It really is true, the best revenge is living well.

Re: The Expendables (Stallone, Statham, Li, Lundgren) Grading & Discus

This was epic. I loved every minute of it. But they didn't kill enough badguys. They needed to kill at least an entire reinforced brigade, but a battalion was decent enough for a first outing, I guess. In the sequel though, they definitely need to up the body count by a factor of 5.

Now, Sly just needs to help Arnold get back into shape so the next one can have them face off with Bruce Willis' crew in a three-way grudge match so awesome my head explodes like it was hit by Terry Crews' full-auto shotgun point blank.

EDIT: I just watched Spoony's review and it's funny seeing him not get every single moment of it. He argues against things that don't even happen in the movie. I guess you could chalk it all up to his admitted migraine during the film, but he isn't acting like he has a migraine. I'm going to say that, like some of the other really unfavorable reviews, Spoony wasn't really paying attention and followed it up with trying way too hard to art house his way through the review.

Oh, well. Can't be right every time. That's my burden to bear.

I thought this film was really cool. Still don't understand why they forgave Gunnar for betraying them, but hey, that's life.

I'd take out Kiefer and replace with Jackie Chan, got to have a kick ass Asian star on each team.
I like Biehn but I'd replace with Samuel L. Jackson, got to have a hard hitting black man per team also.

Quotas and all to keep the cliche's alive!!!

This movie's success is like Stallone raped Michael Cera in his girly little ass.

Re: The Expendables (Stallone, Statham, Li, Lundgren) Grading & Discus

And the sequel talks begin now. Which is actually late considering sequel talk of late on films begins weeks before the initial entry has been released.

Meanwhile with "The Expendables" opening to a strong $35 million over the weekend, sequel buzz has already begun and Sylvester Stallone tells The Hollywood Reporter that he's already 'plotted out' the follow-up film's direction - "I believe this group has to continue to evolve; it just can't become the same people. So how do you get new people introduced into the group, and how do you have some of the other people leaving? Those are the challenges."

Re: The Expendables (Stallone, Statham, Li, Lundgren) Grading & Discus

Did anybody really think that some silly comic book comedy with some nerdy brat would stand a chance against The Expendables, The Other Guys or Inception? I didn't even know that movie existed until I read today that it basically got its ass kicked.

Re: The Expendables (Stallone, Statham, Li, Lundgren) Grading & Discus

Its fun, but little bits and bobs hold it back from being great. Namely Mickey Rourke giving an incomprehensible 5 minute one shot extreme close up monologue. I mean what the hell was he going on about?! All I could make out was "'n shit."
I read this before I saw the movie, so I was surprised to see how great this moment was. Maybe you had sound issues in your theatre. Mickey was better here than all of Iron Man II.

I really enjoyed this movie. I went with my best friend from High School. He was only expecting to enjoy it in a "so bad its good" way. Said before that the reviews were awful. He was very surprised that he actually liked it a lot.

Not sure why he thinks he needs a revolving cast when three of the Expendables had no character development and two of them barely had any screen time. Since Randy Couture is the weak link when it comes to acting, you could kill off his character in the first act which can set the rest of the movie in motion and bring Rourke's character back into the fold as a team member.

Well that maybe exactly what he is thinking. The actual team in the first film was somewhat based on actor available and no doubt budget. The success of this one gives him a lot of options. Letting all the members live was hedging his bets for sequels. If this was a marginal success he may have need to use those second tier guys again. Now they can be cannon fodder.

I felt the same way too. His acting was very good in that scene...he made that monologue work. Rourke was definitely better here than he was in Iron Man.

Seeing this movie was like going back in time. Really enjoyed it. This would be a good movie to get pissed to.

Re: The Expendables (Stallone, Statham, Li, Lundgren) Grading & Discus

in the sequel they should get van damme to play twins that have to fight each other.
