Wilf is definitely unusual. Yeah, he's in the radiation shielded thing. But, the Doctor was commenting on his specialness before and he's receiving the visions.
Donna, it could be some change from the previous crisis that is protecting her I suppose. But, she is so close to Wilf that I think it means something.
It makes sense, the Time Lords want to watch Earth, like miners watch a canary. They needed some under cover observers there.
But, who knows.

Donna is still part timelord. Only her memories are blocked. That's why she's unaffected.

Somehow the idea of the Master being everyone is very old school. I could see Ainley laughing and the look alike's laughing, complete with bad graphics.
I thought it was rather good, especially the scenes with Timothy Dalton narrating, gave it a modern fairy tale like feeling which surprisingly worked very well in my opinion.
While I knew the Time Lords were returning, the reveal was so excellently done that I was still blown away. Thankfully not long to go before part two.

Donna's a metacrisis so wouldn't be affected, she's part-Time Lord and The Master "set the template to human!" as the Cactii said.
So maybe only Donna's human half was changed by the Gate or she wasn't affected at all.
But right now, planet Earth is six billion Time Lords. And since the Master has all the combined minds of the Time Lords buzzing around in his head (the rhythm of four), the Time Lords have been reborn and Earth is a new Gallifrey.
Ten has to kill the Time Lords all over again.
The old lady Wilf keeps seeing is one of the women covering their faces next to Dalton during the Time Lord reborn scene.

We saw the Delgardo Master who must of been near the end of his regenerations, the decayed master of The Deadly Assasain, he was much in any better shape in Keeper Of Traken then he states body swapping taken Tremas's body.
Promised a new set of regenerations by the high council (given the Doctor didn't believe he'd been sent to help it's possible they didn't deliver on the promise).
Fighting with the Doctor on the Planet Of The Cheetah people and then question at the of whether he escaped
Executed by the Daleks in the TVM (whether this was still the Master in Tremas's body is unknown) but his transferring from body to body is something he would of had to do as the bodies aged and wore out (though I think I read this in a novel rather than it being on screen canon). At the end the Master is imprisoned within the Tardis.
Next thing we know the Master is hiding as Dr Yana.
So not only is the master screwed in the head so his background

The past of the Master can't be his future. In Last of the Timelords he and the Doctor mentioned past adventures together... plus the Timelords always seem to follow the same clock and stay in their own timeline with each other - though that my not be set in stone.
The Yana incarnation was mentioned as a ressurection - the Timelods brought him back to fight in the war, I'd assume much like this Master was ressurected they jused used some DNA, a bit of science and boom: New Master.

It will be interesting to find out if all his regenerations came back with him this time.

RE: Wilf and Donna
I'm of two minds on Wilf...he was shielded inside that chamber which is what kept him from changing into the Master...but then, there must be something up with him that allowed him to actually remember the bad dreams. I'd be pleasantly surprised if he turned out to be an arched Time Lord hiding out on Earth, but I'm not holding my breath.
As for Donna, if her mind is half-human and half-Time Lord, with the Time Lord portion being suppressed, I wonder if somehow she's now fully Time Lord, with the human half being transformed into Time Lord by the Immortality Gate? Maybe the Doctor will have some help on the "outside" thanks to the Doctor Donna? If that's the case though, I don't see her staying Time Lord at the end though...maybe the Gate can somehow heal her while allowing her to retain her memories of the Doctor?
EDIT: Yeah, apparently Happy Day Riot had the exact same thoughts at the same time as I did...

Agreed. I kept shaking my head and saying "This is awful." Pity, since I've really been enjoying things thus far.
Well finally got around to seeing it for the second time, in the cold light of day this time and...well...I have to say I hated it...
Nah!! To be honest I still love it...in fact I might have enjoyed it even more second time around!

Hm, I'm not sure what you're referring to but it's been ages since I've seen The Leisure Hive.
I'm thinking I'm going to rewatch this part while I wait for Part Two. Hopefully I'll enjoy it more the second time with certain things in better perspective.
It's difficult to judge something that was so obviously just a huge set-up for the finalé. They even said in the Confidential that they were scrimping on effects in order to save money for something else. That said, I thought the reveal of the Timelords was amazing - spitting included.

The Timelord reveal, Dalton's narration and Wilf/doc in the cafe were the best things about this episode.
