The Down Under Lounge

Here in SA grand final tickets have sold out because crows fans bought every single one including general admission tickets that were up for sale. I wonder how tickets went in other states?

^ I saw something about that. Thankfully didn't pay much attention to the coverage of it - as I rather watch paint dry than this.

so the poilce union in W.A is complaining that cops will be stuck behind a desk as they won't be able to carry a gun under new state laws prohibiting anyone under a restraining order from possessing a firearm.

personsally if you're subject to such an order, you've possibly enaged in domestic violence and I wouldn't be adverse to cops in that situation from being sent home sans pay until the matter is resolved.

and if the grounds for a restraining order are valid then perhaps a new career should be order. One in which some-one who's been the victim of domestic violence won't come in contact with some-one in a position of power and authority who's engaged in it.

TV,

I didn't watch the first season of The Assembly, didn't think it would be my kinda thing. Then I watched a recent ep with Richard Roxburgh, and it was really good! It's fascinating watching neurodivergent people stretching themselves beyond their limits, while asking questions a 'normal' interviewer wouldn't think to ask. It's all up on iView.

On SBS on Wednesday is the second part of The People vs Robodebt, which basically says factions within Morrison's Govt were doing illegal stuff as well as standing over people. Fucking ScoMo! He's thinks he's going to Heaven, boy, is he in for a surprise! Even now , you can see the terror in the eyes of workers at Centrelink offices when you ask difficult questions, just watch.

Both are good viewing.

So the silliness of daylight savings starts tonight. So people in NSW, Tasmania, Victoria, SA and ACT will put their clocks forward a hour. Hopefully one day it will be gone.

Aussies also do that silliness?

for the most part.

Queensland and Western Australia don't.

in Summer Queensland would go from being half an hour ahead of S.A to being that same amount behind.

Getting rid of it comes up from time to time but nothing ever happens.

There was even talk about about moving South Australia to move the clocks permanently forward 30mins or 30mins back rather than being on of the few capitals in a half hour timezone.

Can make things fun when dealing internationally.

I'm in Ontario Canada and my mum is back in South Australia. Yesterday the time difference was 13.5 hours, today with DST starting that's now 14.5 hours.

On November 9th, Ontario will put the clocks back and the different becomes 15.5 hours.

So when I call home for Christmas, I call just after midnight as it's the 25th in both timezones and lunch is usually done by then.

It is pretty much pointless. That being said - I feel like I am struggling a little this morning. Just finished off some breakfast. Should do washing - but that can wait until tomorrow. Today is about the NRL and grand final day. Don't really like either team. Just hoping for a good match,

I had my first Tim Tam* today. It was dark chocolate which is my preference. It seemed all right but I sha'n't be seeking them out.

Then I realised that I couldn't compare it to the UK equivalent (Penguin) because I haven't had a Penguin for years!

* got a pack in a discounter, reduced to the third of the normal shelf price.

thanks to the Wiki and now disappointed to know that the Tim Tam is pretty much copied from the Penguin :(

But a least there only 3 flavors to the later unlike some of the abominations they've come out with for different Tim Tam flavours.
