The Down Under Lounge

Wonder how long it will last. I reckon a minimum of three years, after losing the next federal election in 2028.

This split won't last they will kiss and make up when they need to.

It's the shady groups behind the LNP that should be brought into the light like Advance Australia, who are these people?

iirc one of he big things about the coalition agreement was stopping the 3 way battles i.e the libs wouldn't contest nat seats and vice versa though at the time it allowed the nationals to be screwed over.

back when lying rodent was P.M, an mp jumped ship from the nationals to the liberals and howard immediately stripped a nati of his cabinet position on the grounds they had one less seat so under the agreement they'd have one less minister.

not that the nats couldn't be utter bastards of their own (yes doug anthony we're looking at you).

Would have to go back and check the numbers but think there's only been once in the past 50 odd years when the liberals have held enough seats on their own to form govt and that after whitlam's dismissal in 75.

Copying something I saw online
"The cynic in me thinks is just so the Nats go around still denying climate change without affecting the Libs vote in the burbs / inner city and the Libs can claim to believe in climate change without effecting the Nats vote in the bush.
If they both get enough seats come election time they will just reform the coalition and all shall be forgiven"
