As much as I regard the episode as a gratuitously maudlin tear-jerker, I would not mind some sort of follow-up, whether an actual sequel, or a subplot in something else, or even just as throwaway.

There's an episode of Emergency! that I try to avoid [it's the one in which a "boy who cried wolf" so many times that his mother was ignoring him finally did himself in by taking a lethal dose of a pesticide], and an episode of Quncy that I've never been able to watch a second time, [the one involving child abuse].)
