The Doctor

How do we know the EMH can be copied? Holograms are many orders of magnitude more sophisticated than anything we've got. Maybe they *can't* be copied. When was the last time we saw that happen, if ever?

I bought it all until the marrying-a-human-woman part. Sorry, can't go there. Ick.

So you bought it right up to the finale. Good enough :p

I'm the first one to be disdainful of the sentience kick, never cared for Data either. But Picardo is just so good that I am willing to turn somersaults to believe in the Doctor as a sentient being.

I'm interested to know if the Doctor is somehow extra special or if every copy of him would achieve the same level of personality and sentience. I like to think something weird glitched in our Doctor and that's why he is now so much more than the sum of his parts.

I have a half arsed theory.

The Morairty program was used as a template for the next generation of interactive holograms.

They used a "lifeform" as parts for their "machines" and depending on "how much" of the "Moriarty Code" is left in tact, the closer to sentience these lightbulbs eventually come to think they are.
