The Doctor (VOY)

I see no reason to treat Living Witness as having happened. I feel it is a bottle episode in the truest sense of the word and I love it for it.

I feel like there are 2 versions of "The Doctor", one from the original Voyager, and his backup.

By the 32nd century, I can see 2 iterations of "The Doctor" co-existing in different places, but sharing memories and data across Hyper subspace data links.

We can get one copy of "The Doctor" over here and have him help out Discovery.

I would LOVE to have Robert Picardo back, and him willing to adjust his Holographic Program to look a bit older after 700+ years of being alive is reasonable considering the actor is 66 y/o at the moment.

And I'd rather see ST:Alumni back while we still have them.

We missed chances to have Rene Auborjonois and Aaron Eisenberg reprise their roles while they were still around.

Just imagine how wise and more mature a 700+ years of living experience "The Doctor" would be and how he can help solve problems.

Aside from being gray, Robert Picardo doesn't even look that different than 20 years ago. Dye his hair and smooth out some wrinkles in post.
Or Dye his hair and do really good makeup to make him look younger.

Saves you money over having to get rid of wrinkles via CG.

We know Robert Picardo is on board for Picard season 2, so it's possible he could show up.

They're already doing a part 3 for a TNG 2-parter from 30 years ago though, so maybe they can meet Voyager's EMH in season 4.

He could still be Zimmerman if he did Picard. And with the latest developments, Picard could use an expert in cybernetics.

Didn't know there was a Unification III - I don't look much into spoilers or BTS news. That makes sense now.

If you have the Voyager EMH still existing in the 32nd century (in both copies no less!), I'd suspect suspect a good number of EMH mark 1's would have survived into that century. And given what we see at the end of Author, Author, they probably won't have been content with just dilithium mining for the past 800 years :)

He's entirely the sort of person they wouldn't want in Discovery as everything about him symbolises the past: from a Trek that's long gone (and was better), from a different studio, he's an old white man and has no edge to him. And quite frankly any story would need so much exposition with so little pay off it wouldn't be rewarding.

"I am from the 24th century ship Voyager". So?

That said Enterprise writers felt the need to explain the ridges, so I'll never 100% certain say never.

We know Robert Picardo is on board for Picard season 2,
Actually, Picardo himself debunked that
While the remaining TNG expressed interest returning for season two, another intriguing question arises of who else among alumni from other Star Trek will appear. While it's doubtful anyone from the prequel series Enterprise or Discovery (currently in the distant future) will appear, that leaves Deep Space Nine and Voyager. One name you can cross off the list for Picard season two is the Emergency Medical Hologram (EMH), the Doctor/Dr. Zimmerman played by Robert Picardo on Voyager.
"Well, I can say this: as of now, there are absolutely no plans and there is nothing in the works," Picardo told Comic Book.

The thing is, Voyager's Doctor, Odo, B4, or whoever could theoretically be around means absolutely nothing to the Discovery crew. They don't know these people. Meeting them would provide them no more relief than meeting the Federation outpost guy.

Ironically the best bet would be to have a cryogenically frozen Pike frozen by Talosians who learned of Discovery's fate from their telepathy and froze Pike to be able to meet his old friends (and also long enough that a cure would be found for his condition). But I don't think Anson's going to be doing 2 shows (Strange New Worlds and Discovery) at once.
As much as I enjoy Anson Mount as Pike; please God, no. Just no.

The EMH Mark I or sometimes ECH is a great addition to any crew. Would prefer Picardo over the current doctor.
