News The Disney+ (The New Streaming Service) Thread

Which of the Marvel animated shows on Disney+ are worth watching? Of the ones on there I've seen are most of the first season of the current Spider-Man series, and a handful of episodes of the '90s X-Men and Spider-Man series. I watched a few episodes of X-Men: Evolution back when it originally aired, but I have absolutely no memory of it.

I'd definitely recommend the 90s Spider-man. 90s x-men only if you can handle lots of DRAMATIC SHOUTING (the stories beneath all that shouting are still good).

I haven't gotten a chance to see Ultimate Spider-man (I think that's the name - the one with Nick Fury in it, in any case) all through yet, but I quite liked the pilot. And i also really enjoyed the Marvel Rising shorts.

Would you count Big Hero 6: The Series as "Marvel" - or, at least, as Marvel-once-removed? If so, it would be well worth a look, if you are a fan of the movie. (For what it's worth, the Marvel Database lists Big Hero 6 as being on Earth-14123.)

Plus, if you wanted to give Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors a try, it might be worth watching the aforementioned Marvel Rising: Initiation clips fist.

EDIT: Nevermind, I missed that you were looking for Marvel shows! (Serves me right for posting at 3 AM.)

But if you're ever in the mood for a non-Marvel cartoon, check out Gargoyles. Just don't bother with season 3; it's practically a different show.

I watched part of the pilot and a couple Season 2 episodes of Big Hero 6, and really enjoyed them, so I definitley plan on going through it from start to finish.

I will point out that the 90s X-Men show has more action, and honestly I think better writing. Sure, Wolverine can't use his claws on people, but Spider-Man isn't even allowed to punch people in the 90s cartoon, and combine that with animation that isn't as good (the CG, even if its only a bit, is pretty bad) and writing I honestly think isn't as sharp as -Men could be at times, and if you were only going to watch one, I'd recommend X-Men. It also adapts some great X-Men stories, which Spider-Man kind of does with SM stories but not much.

Keep in mind though, that some of the X-Men episodes still seem to be out of order, which is unfortunate but not an insurmountable problem.

Is there any way to see the old Disney shorts in order? I watched Steamboat Willie, and the hen one with Donald, but how do I find them? Does Disney through the decades have them all?

I think it has them all on it.
I started watching Tron Legacy, and I have to take back what I said before, I actually like it's production design a lot more than the first one.
I had forgotten that they actually did have the whole thing about Kevin Flynn, Tron, and Clue building a new Grid as a way to explain why things looked so different.
I made up to Sam finding his dad, but then I found out TCM was showing Muppets Take Mahattan, and decided to watch that instead of finishing Legacy, I'll probably finish it tomorrow.
I wonder if TCM having Muppets Take Manhattan is why Disney+ doesn't? It's the only Muppet movie not on Disney+.

Muppets from Space is also missing from Disney+. It seems like those two movies might be owned by Sony, not DIsney.

Finished up Tron Legacy this morning, and after watching the two back to back, I actually prefer Legacy, the story and world feel a lot deeper in that one than they did in the first one. It's a shame we probably won't get any more. At least I have the animated series to check out.

Legacy had a great use of 3d too. The computer world was 3d while the outside world was flat.

Looks like Coco has been added to the service.
High quality Pixar if you haven't seen it.

The marvel animated universe of the 90s which was X-men, Spiderman but also Hulk, Fantastic 4, Iron Man, Silver Surfer and just recently I discovered they made an animated Avengers also. While you have seen the best with X-men and Spiderman I thought Iron-man, Hulk and Fantastic 4 were not so bad too. They are in the same continuity so they might be fun to catch up with. That is, if they are on Disney plus. Are they?

Just got it for a free trial, saw all of the Star Wars (and a few of the Disney movies) on it, as well as the two Tron movies, and I have to say, it's great.

Next year Disney+ will be getting a new Star Wars game show hosted by Ahmed Best. It will be called Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge, and kid contestants will be tested on the "core Jedi principles of strength, knowledge, and bravery as they face thrilling and fun obstacles in an attempt to achieve the rank of Jedi Knight". Best will be playing a Jedi Master who serves as the contestants mentor along with "a hilarious humanoid droid companion" voiced by Mary Holland. During the show contestants will visit a forest planet, a Jedi Cruiser, and a Jedi Temple.

My first thought reading that story was Legends of the Hidden Temple, but for Star Wars. There are a few similarities.
