News The Disney+ (The New Streaming Service) Thread

This entire topic has been derailed because of a man complaining about the length of something..... Wow......

I tried to talk about Jeff Goldblum but the interest wasn't there. I also think the shock value of the service is wearing off (As it should) and while I'm still watching Darkwing Duck, I decided to complete my Expanse rewatch. I'll get back to DWD eventually. I have been putting more stuff into my watchlist, like Mulan, Hunchback and Nortre Dame, and I think maybe this December I might do a rewatch of the Tron movies mainly because I want to revisit Tron Legacy. I also have movies in from Disney's animated Dark age era like The Great Mouse Detective, The Rescuers, and Black Cauldron (And Black Hole but it's not animated) that I will probably watch around the Holidays.

Greetings, programs.

In case it hasn't been noted here already, the pilot episode for Tron: Uprising is, as yet, not on Disney+. However, it has been posted in ten parts on the Disney XD YouTube channel:

So I might advise watching those clips before delving into the series proper.

Hopefully there might be an opportunity for new entries in the Tron franchise to appear on Disney+ at some point in the future. But, we'll see.

End of Line.

However, lest you be concerned:

“One Day at Disney” will highlight the people who work on some of Disney’s most beloved stories. The film will highlight 10 specific people and their role at Disney through the lens of CEO Bob Iger, with the debut set for Dec. 3. Disney Publishing Worldwide will also release a 224-page coffee table book in conjunction with the release. Then Disney Plus will release 52 four-to-seven minute shorts that focus on a different person each week with new episodes dropping on Fridays.

Yeah, I just double checked and it turns out when I thought they had added episode 1, they just renumbered them so that it started with 1 even though it was the second episode.

Watched the original Tron this morning, it really is a fun movie, with great production design. The effects really are pretty impressive for 1982. Probably going to watch Legacy next week.

I've always thought the effects worked because they are supposed to be in a computer system of the era and thus the effects are from the early 80s.

It's the same reason the effects in "The Mask" still look good today: They're not supposed to look realistic in the first place.

Take this with a grain of salt, but a research firm that has a pretty good idea of what they're doing has said Disney+ has had about 15.5 million people set up accounts so far. (Though some may have dropped out after a 7-day trial period.)

More numbers in the article.

One number that stood out was "25.6 million viewing sessions per day last week", which is a sign that the people who have it are using it and using it a lot.

It feels like we're well past the point of "too many good shows". Soooooo much content is coming out these days, there's just no time to watch all of what I want to watch. One of my friends and I have been joking for the past few years (though seriously intending to) about how one of these days one of us is going to watch The Man in the High Castle, yet still neither of us has found time for it.

Yeah, that's why I generally get stuck in the past. I at least know the old shows. Playing catch up is not as fun when there are constantly having new reasons being released to remind you of how behind you are.

Especially when a whole season is dropped at once and everyone has already watched it over the weekend.
