News The Disney+ (The New Streaming Service) Thread

wmfKjIR.gif

I'm a huge Muppet fan, so this makes me very happy.
I got the first season back when it first came out on DVD, and I had been starting to think about buying the rest, since I never did, and now I don't have to.

On the 22nd they are going to be adding 10 Pixar Popcorn shorts featuring characters from the Toy Story movies, The Incredibles movies, the Cars series, Finding Dory/Nemo, Soul, and Coco.
The shorts are
Toy Story
  • To Fitness and Beyond
  • Fluffy Stuff with Ducky & Bunny
The Incredibles
  • Cookie Num-Num
  • Chore Day, the Incredibles way
Finding Nemo
  • Dory Finding
Coco
  • A Day in the Life of the Dead
Soul
  • Soul of the City

Marvel is also going to be releasing a new documentary, Behind the Mask, which will "explore the power of identity behind the world’s most iconic Super Heroes we know and love today". The article doesn't say who exactly, but it's supposed to feature writers and artists from "across Marvel's 80 year legacy".

That looks interesting. And hooray for The Muppet Show! It's great news, and along with Dinosaurs that's
coming soon, it's double awesome.

I've missed it if this thread has already mentioned any reports that Europe (as well as some other territories) will be getting more mature content starting February 23rd, all appearing on a new channel called 'Star.' It will be age-restricted, but it's a great way to almost double the Disney+ content just in time to justify the coming price rise.

24, Lost, The X Files, Desperate Housewives, Prison Break, Love, Victor, How I Met Your Mother, Blackish, Atlanta and The Die Hard films were all in the initial announcement. It's making me excitedly check for further updates. :)

I think this is basically our way of having Hulu outside of USA.

I think they're possibly going to be adding some version of Star to the US version of Disney+ too.

I thought that Star was just a stand in for Hulu in other countries? Since the US has Hulu for disney owned content that doesn't fit on D+, it would be weird for them to compete with themselves like that in the US.

Maybe not then, I just thought I remembered reading somewhere that they were going to be adding a new section to the US version of Disney+ for more mature content.

Is Disney+ not working for anyone else?
Works fine for me. Watched WandaVison and all the Pixar 'Popcorn' shorts during my lunch break (working from home today). Right about the time you posted too. Must be a glitch either with your program, device or internet provider....

I use my PS4 and when I tried to jump right to WandaVision from the TV and Video section on the dashboard it froze up, but when I went back and picked the regular Disney+ it worked fine.

This one isn't SFF, but since this is the Disney+ thread I think it's OK to put it here.
We have a title, released date, and the first trailer for the new Might Ducks series. It's called The Might Ducks: Game Changer, and it's starting on March 26. And it looks like this time the Ducks are going to be the rivals for the characters we follow, instead of being the focus of the show.

Looks like they listened to me and they are adding some manly shows to Disney Plus in March in the UK.

He's referring to Disney adding the Fox catalog & some Hulu shows as "manly shows" for some reason instead of more mature content vs the mostly kid centric current content Disney+ has. In some countries it's coming as a seperate app, some countries it's being added to existing app but the sub fee is increasing.

Uh, like what?
