News The Disney+ (The New Streaming Service) Thread

4K TVs aren’t that expensive these days so I imagine their numbers are growing.
Do that many people have 4K?
I'm not to surprised to hear about this, I have trouble trouble even finding Blu-Rays these days. I still tons of DVDs everywhere, but it takes a lot more searching to find Blu-Rays.
The opposite here. More blu rays than DVDs

Well, I do most of my shopping at places like Wal-Mart and Target, so that might be part of it. I do tend to see more Blu-Rays at Target.

Well there are still some movies that are ONLY on DVD and not Blu Ray, but not many. Blu ended up a very successful format. 4K though is still impossible to find, other than on Amazon.

Where I live, it tends to be more likely that you will find things on dvd than blu - especially when it comes to series, but films too. (The films tend to be the cheaper/lower budget ones though).

For films that are on blu (unless they are the really big budget ones), I'm more likely to find on Amazon or specialist stores.

Our local supermarket has about three shelves of Blu, two shelves of 4k - then about fifteen or so of dvd.

At the specialist stores, obviously there are a lot more blu, but I'd say shelves of dvd still take about twice as much room as blu of any type:(

We've had a 4K player for about 2.5 years (our old blu-ray broke on us) and we have fewer than 15 titles for that format. Rise of Skywalker was our last 4K disc purchase.

While Blu-Ray is probably the most prevalent in our market, I have found plenty of 4K discs at our local Best Buy and Target. Maybe not everything but enough. Haven't gone into BB since before COVID and the pandemic has kept me away from the section in Target at those times I have to go in. But we own an Apple TV and do plenty of purchases and rentals through that these days. Still, when I do buy 4K discs, I typically buy through Amazon as they are less expensive.

I only own movies on DVD that I specifically want in my archive, and don't want to chance losing access to. Since blu-rays would be duplicating movies, i only but those for the absolute cream of the crop, my favorite movies ever. So I have very few blu-rays.

Do they have the director's cut of The Wolverine? Because that's the far superior version of the film.

Isn't that the Rated R Version? If so, that definitely won't be coming to disney+. I agree that it is the better version of the film, I have it on Blu Ray, but Disney+ has been pretty clear that they're not going about a Pg-13 rating for content.

I thought you don't like violent, dark comic book movies...

That's one thing that I really like about HBOMax, they actually have both the theatrical and extended versions of some of their movies. Most of the other streaming services seem to pretty much stick to the theatrical versions.
