The Defenders--Marvel/Netflix

So the guy that the Netflix shows are too ashamed of to actually give a full cameo is narrating their trailer. Maybe he'll actually get an on screen cameo that isn't just a picture in The Defenders, if something like that doesn't offend the Marvel Netlfix division's sensibilities too much. I'd trade Danny Rand or Jessica Jones entirely just to get 20 seconds of Stan Lee in a Marvel Netflix production at this point.

Also, now I really want to see Frank Castle stomp Danny into the ground, so I hope that happens. Punisher usually gets into fights with superheroes, so I'd like to see what a character with actual weapons and hand to hand combat training do against the homeless beach bum whose only power is getting his butt kicked by everyone in terrible fights and sometimes making his fist glow slightly

A solid turd, maybe. ;)

Well, it was only the third best season of the Flash, but for me that still puts it over both seasons of Legends of Tomorrow (even though I mostly like LoT) and Supergirl (which had a bad first season but a decent second season), and over seasons 3-5 of Arrow. To compare it to other modern recently released superhero shows, I also put Flash season 3 over the second half of the latest season of AoS, over Jessica Jones and definitely over Iron Fist.

so, overall it was a pretty good season of television in my opinion.

also, a new full trailer for Defenders

Damn, now that is more of what I expect from Marvel. I'm definitely counting down the days, and planning my possible first ever binge watch.

Sweet Christmas, that was great. :D

I'm so glad we finally got confirmation that Madame Gao will appear in the series. I'm pretty sure we didn't know that for certain before.

Loved Jessica mocking Matt's costume. He certainly does stand out with his outfit when the other three are in their street clothes.

They previewed the first episode at SDCC and Io9 has a glowing non-spoiler review. Sigorney Weaver is described as "terrifying".

An excerpt...

If the Defenders is meant to follow the path laid down by the movies—solo adventures, seasoned with a few linked Easter eggs, and culminating in a big team-up—then the TV version is actually slightly better than its big screen big brother. The extra time afforded an 8-episode series means that it’s got a lot more time to put all the characters in the same room. Each character’s motive gets space to breathe and the show makes sure that anyone who doesn’t remember every detail from the past five seasons of television isn’t lost. I felt like even if I had quit one of the previous Marvel/Netflix series halfway through, I’d still know everything I’d need to about these characters by the time the first Defenders episode ended.

That said, knowing all four shows does add an extra element of joy, since every time we see these great characters that haven’t met share the screen, it’s a little bundle of joy—just as much as seeing Iron Man and Captain America meet for the first time.

It was announced without a lot of ceremony a while ago, I think. But the news was pretty late in coming.

That review does make me even more excited for the show. I especially like that the show apparently doesn't expect you to remember every second of every show, so my skipping Iron Fist completely won't be an issue (although I already read an Io9 article a few months ago telling people what important things you need to know if you skipped Iron Fist, and it was both fairly short and a great substitute to watching the show).

Glad to hear they are handling all four characters well, one of my big fears was that they wouldn't really give all the characters the same kind of attention.

Well, I was kind of hoping certain characters would get less attention, but I suppose being more balanced is ok, too. Still, 8 episodes doesn't seem like enough for all of them, especially since Luke is going to need at least 2-3 to get out of that really stupid situation he ended his show on unless they just BS him out of it in the first episode. That said, its looking good, and I say that as someone who thinks half of the Netflix shows so far are good to great (Luke Cage and Daredevil)and the other half are mediocre to terrible (Jessica Jones and IF). I hope they don't spend too much time on the "We're loners, we're not going to work together" thing we see in the trailer. Its always annoying when heroes spend more time on drama then actually teaming up.

IGN has posted a spoiler filled reaction video for the first episode.
Some interesting points:
We do not see all of the Defenders together in the first episode, the only crossover is Foggy gets Luke out of jail.
Sigourney Weaver's character, Alexandra, is dying, so she joins up with Madam Gao and The Fist as an escalation of a plan she's been working on.
We see a mysterious figure lurking around throughout the episode, and at the end it's revealed it's Elektra, and she's working for Alexandra.
The episode ends with an earthquake, which appears to be the inciting incident that brings the Defenders together.

I think you mean "The Hand". I kept reading that as, "she joins up with Madam Gao and Iron Fist", and couldn't figure out why Danny would be teaming up with Gao.

Oops, you're right, sorry about that.
Both of those clips were interesting,
especially the second one now that we know the resurrected Elektra is revealed at the end of episode one

I watched that panel yesterday. Great stuff, although it's a pity Rosario Dawson wasn't there, too. I loved how more than half the panel were women.
