I've not seen this movie in a long-assed time. But this sample of the Rifftrax on it may get me to buy it.

"Yes, burn the books and not the OAK TABLES!"

Yeah, this was a funny Rifftrax, even without Mike. "Day After Tomorrow" is the only one of Roland Emmerich's overblown disaster movies I can watch and at least partially enjoy, so that helped. When I rewatched Independence Day for the Rifftrax I was just annoyed the entire time because I was reminded how much I hate that stupid movie. If they ever do the American Godzilla, I'll have a really tough choice to make...

Want to do an iRiff with me?

;)

It's one of the best Rifftrax ever, even without Mike. Kevin & Bill are simply butchering this stupid movie ... It's Eragon-level butchering.

All Emmerich movies have some clever ideas or original touches hopelessly mixed with complete insanity or inanity or some weird other -ity.

But curiously, the scene in this preview is not as stupid as the guys riffing on it think. First, the scene is meant metaphorically as a comment on the value of high culture in lean times. That's why there's an argument over the incestuous philosopher (who's name I missed obviously,) and why it ends with a punch line about tax law. Second---and this is the part that makes the voiceover guys look a little dumb---the oak table won't fit into that little fire place. The wiseacres may have beaver teeth but none of the movie's characters did. How were they supposed to saw up the table?
It would probably be easier to break up some chairs without saws but I doubt that it would be that easy.
