The Dark Knight Rises Anticipation Station

Broccoli is just upset he couldn't work in an "ignore The Last Stand" joke. ;)

What? Based on the trailer, I think it is fairly obvious that Nolan feels The Last Stand is the only X-Men film that aligns with his filmmaking and storytelling style. It is obvious that TDKR will tie into the Phoenix plotline from The Last Stand and that this Miranda Tate character is really Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in disguise. Clearly, Nolan isn't ignoring The Last Stand. Why would he want to? After all, the only purpose for this movie to exist is to set-up X-Men 4 and The Avengers since the Sam Jackson/Nick Fury cameo is all, but confirmed. The Dean Cain appearance is obviously meant to give some closure to Lois & Clark fans (and possibly to set-up a live-action adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns - at least that's the rumor).

Well, with Bane talking about ashes when he isn't being completely incomprehensible, how could it not be connected to the Phoenix storyline from The Last Stand?

I'm sorry, but am I the only one who had no problem understanding Bane in the trailer? I didn't even realize it was an issue until I saw stories on this on the internet.

Honestly, Batman's "growl voice" is harder for me to understand.

Nolan says it’s OK if you can’t understand everything Bane says, and that it’s part of the intended effect. I wonder whether that’s after-the-fact rationalization of a discovered problem, or if that was always the understanding. If Bane has important expository dialog that the audience misses, it may be a problem, but if it was written and directed from the get-go with the understanding that Bane’s speech is difficult to understand, then it doesn’t have to be a problem at all.

be that as it may, I simply didn't have an issue with understand him, I thought he sounded perfectly comprehensible yet creepy and scary enough for it to have an effect.

You're not alone with being able to understand Bane. I understood what he was saying as well for the most part. He is talking through a mask that acts as a filter for his mouth as I think Captaindemotion pointed out a while back. I wonder if Nolan tested Hardy with a regular looking luchadore mask?

Well, it's hard to talk clearly when Mahoney has pulled a prank on you by putting super-glue on the inside portion of your megaphone, causing you to walk around with the mouth piece stuck to your face.
