The Dark Knight Rises Anticipation Station

I'm not saying Selina is a villain, per say. I'm thinking Bane forces her to go along with his plan. I doubt there isn't a connection between her and Bane.

Flying Spaghetti Monster: you may be right about Bane crippling Batman and putting him in prison for eight years. But I'm wondering if Bane does this to Batman shortly after the events of The Dark Knight after keeping an eye on Batman for a while now, thinking he would pose a threat to his plans and feeling it would be best to have him dealt with so he would be out of the way. And come to think of it the clip in the trailer when Alfred says he hasn't protected Bruce makes sense within the context you established.
Yeah, I've been trying to actually piece together a kind of timeline for the events. I think there is a shot where Bane is talking to Bruce, and he actually knows the the truth, that Bruce is batman. There is a shot during the prologue bootleg (from a collage of quick bits later in the film) where Bane is carrying Batman's mask. I really think it falls within Nolan's writing style that Bane - and maybe the League of shadows - would want Bruce to see the destruction of Gotham - that they wouldn't kill him until this happens - that he has to see it and realize that he has actually helped make it come about.

IGN was pretty specific and adamant that her role in the film was that of a Batman-esque vigilante, and I have a hard time believing that they were wrong or mistaken about that.

Therefore, it is far more likely to me that Selina ends up being set up as someone who is presented as being antagonistic towards Bruce Wayne (as indicated by the scenes of her in the trailer whispering Occupy movement sentiments in his ear) and possibly Batman, but is ultimately a 'good guy', even if we as an audience are initially led to believe otherwise.

Exactly

Both female leads will change sides by the end of the movie

That would great if what you said actually turns out that way in the movie.

In Batman Begins it was hinted at that Bruce Wayne's father changed the city for the better. Bruce said to Alfred that it needs a symbol and not a mere man to fight crime because a man can die or be ignored. Maybe this movie will show that he was mistaken. The Bat attracted the worst enemies instead of helping the city. But with the "help" of Bane, Gotham gets to know that Bruce is Batman, and in the end it's exactly what Gotham needs.

I would love it if this movie actually takes the daring risk of exposing Bruce as Batman to the people of Gotham which would unlike anything previous Batman movies have done. I was surprised and actually enjoyed when something similiar happened at the end of Iron Man.

We'll see, but candidly I'm getting tired of the hero being unmasked in some manner or other. Seems like it's always be done.

It's better than maintaining the status quo at all cost. It's time to shake things up.
Nolan's given us two very good films without unmasking the hero. How much more does it need to be shaken up? I don't agree. At the end of TDK Batman is a hunted outlaw. He shouldn't need to be unmasked to redeem himself. If he is unmasked then his career his effectively over.

They unmasked Iron Man in his first film and I still didn't see the point.

Spidey was unmasked in #2 and #3. And there have been others.

It's just getting tiresome.

^ Tanks aren't mobile? What is it then, a Batstatic?
Let's try this.
A tank is such an extreme type of "mobile" that no one would group a car, even a boosted up hyper one like the Batmobile, in with a tank.
Much like sharks are fish but when one says Great White or Hammerhead the question isn't what type of fish is that but hey those are sharks.
It's special enough and different enough to have it's own sub group if it's even considered in the same class.

It's still a Batmobile :) Frankly I was hoping we would get a totally different designed Batmobile like the one used in the comics right now but like I said it makes sense that Bruce would continue to use the tumbler design. It's effective enough for him, not to mention imposing and goes with his motif of "terrorizing criminals".

Come on, guys. We all know that if Batman had a tank, it would be called the Bat Tank. The Batmobile should be a car.

I still disagree. The Batmobile is whatever vehicle Bruce deems necessary to use in his war on crime. In most depictions it has been Dick Grayson that has given the "Bat" labels to everything. I'm pretty sure we haven't heard NolanVerse Bruce call anything "Bat" in the two movies.

True, and to which I am ever thankful.

I just saw the trailer for the first time.

Frankly, I don't care about "bat" whatever....

:p

It looks pretty good.

I've been a Batman fan since I was tucking a black towel into the back of my t-shirt and running around the house yelling "POW!" and so forth....

I hope this is as good as it looks.

:techman:

Alfred: Will you be wanting the Batpod, sir?
Bruce Wayne: In the middle of the day, Alfred? Not very subtle.

Then again, that's still not Bruce saying it. :techman:

Except himself, which I still don't understand. I'd rather have seen the mob or the media come up with the name. I guess Bruce liked the sound of "Batman" and wanted to get it out there before he got branded with a sillier monicker.

Well it has to do with his conversation with Ra's about making oneself a legend. Not to mention theatrics. It makes total sense that Bruce would name himself that. He named himself after something that he was terrified of and that would be theatrical at the same time. Ra's does make the point in the mansion that he took his theatrics maybe a little too literally.

So, from the glimpses we got, we can guess some plot points.

We see someone (probably Bane) scaling down a well. Which suggests that he's gonna find the Batcave, just like he did in Knightfall.

The "When Gotham is ashes, you have my permission to die" line is said to an injured Bruce. Couple that with Alfred's words to Bruce and it looks like Bane will severely injure Bruce in some way.
But when Alfred talks to him, Bruce is clearly standing. We also get a short glimpse of someone in crutches. So, probably no back breaking.

My guess: Bane will break one or both of Bruces legs.
Meaning, Bruce will be on recovery for a while, granting Bane and his goons free reign over Gotham.

Then there's this scene with a bearded Bruce in what looks like a prison (Blackgate?). I have no idea on how to incorporate that, except maybe as a flashback to his training days.
Then again, maybe Bane throws him into prison after their first fight.

like i said above Bane looks to imprison Gotham's richest, (implied in Selena's warning0 and that's why Bruce has been out of the picture for 8 years.. he was in the prison
