Sometimes as much as a title name can generate speculation and discussion as to what the plot of the movie might be about...I think we as fans tend to overanaylze things like this too much. I'm a little disappointed that the Riddler was taken off the list, would love if Hugo Strange appeared, love the fact that it won't be filmed in 3D.

Bit unsure of that title too. It kinda sucks.

I thought Riddler would fit in well with Nolan's series, and it would be cool to see a different interpretation from the hyperative one most people are familair with. But if Nolan doesn't want to use him, then he doesn't want to use him, and that's that.

If Batman Begins was the origin, and The Dark Knight was the evolution (he's now Gotham's Dark Knight) but this one comes with a price... he falls. The Dark Knight Rises... evolved but fallen, our hero must pick himself back up and "rise".

Not terribly fond of the title, it makes the series a bit all over the place title-wise. But whatever. Screw titles. I just want a good movie.

I'm sure the film will be fantastic, regardless of the title, but why are so many sequels these days rising, or falling, or returning or revenging?

Besides, I don't want to hear that Bruce Wayne's "dark knight" is rising. TMI, if you ask me.

I too thought that it has something to do with Bruce rising out of the darkness from the last movie.

Yeah, that's why I don't like it. It's too obvious. Although I guess "Batman Begins" wasn't exactly a subtle title either.

I was just going to say that Batman Begins was a lame title.

Having the last two films be "The Dark Knight," though, really does make "Batman Begins" feel like it doesn't even belong in this series.

Well, we've seen worse. For instance:

1. First Blood
2. Rambo: First Blood Part II
3. Rambo III
4. Rambo

Or the Inspector Clouseau series, which began with The Pink Panther and A Shot in the Dark, then had the "non-canonical" Inspector Clouseau without Peter Sellers or Blake Edwards, then had The Return of the Pink Panther (bringing back the Pink Panther diamond and its thief from the original film), and then had Pink Panther in every subsequent title in the series even though the diamond wasn't involved, because that title had become associated with Clouseau himself through repetition.

I was hoping for..."The Batman"

Someone on another site suggested Gotham City as a title and I liked it.

I know it could never fly as a title, but I was so, so hoping the third film would be called The Goddamn Batman.

Not particularly impressed by that title. Guess we should now call the Nolan movies "The Dark Knight series."

That would be all right as long as they don't Re-title Begins, The Dark Knight: Batman Begins ala Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Even if that was only on the dvd packaging. I was actually hoping for The Caped Crusader even if it does sound a little cheesy.

Better than "The Caped Crusader" which sounds like it belongs to the 90s.

The Dark Knight Rises, close to the Dark Knight Returns. But seriously any news on this movie is good news.

Would liek to see Hugo Strange. Played by Tom Hardy, yeah!

Batman or The Batman would be better and I expect the studio to reconsider once they hear the lack of buzz towards it. Also I wanted Riddler but in a way he might seem a little similar to Joker so am not totally surprised by his exclusion.

I highly doubt that. WB wanted 3-D for The Dark Knight Rises but Nolan convinced them otherwise. After the mega success of both The Dark Knight and Inception, WB is smart not to piss Nolan off or step on his toes. If he wants to call the film The Dark Knight Rises, then that's what it is going to be called.

Curious if they are going to follow the theme that Batman inspires more and more bad guys to use theatrics and masks and shit. Or if the next bad guy will simply be someone who never acts in the night, making it impossible for Batman to fight him.
