The crewman in "Man of the People"

EJA

Fleet Captain
Any ideas as to what happened to the young crewman Troi slept with in this episode? Would Deanna have perhaps spoken to him after she was cured, telling him why she'd done it and why it couldn't happen again?

Who says it couldn't happen again? If they both enjoyed it, no reason to. Starfleet doesn't seem to have a rule against fraternization, and I think that 24th century sexual mores are way more relaxed.

Deanna wasn't exactly herself at the time though, so I doubt she would've been open to a second encounter with the man in question.

That's correct, she wasn't in complete control. But you never know: I don't remember the details, but did the link to the Ambassador instilled in her negative tendencies or it did only weaken her control?

Personally I think that modern Trek has always been a little Victorian when dealing with sex, as if it's something kinky or wicked. So I wished the counsellor enjoyed a different, more natural encounter with the strapping crewman. ;)

He probably went back to his quarters, wrote about it on his blog (on the 24c equivalent) and many years later died a happy, happy man.

I think he would've bragged about it more than just write about it. He'd also be the topic of conversation amongst his friends and colleagues on the ship for a good while and I think Riker would always have his eye on him. Deanna might not have been herself, but he was and he used this to his advantage, submitting to a sexual act with a superior officer who wasn't in the right frame of mind.

I'd bet cash money that durin' the next crew evaluations, Riker & Troi double-teamed his service record & had him transferred off the ship.

Just sayin'...

You're assuming he knew she wasn't her usual self.

Besides, in terms of taking advantage of someone it's no worse than hitting on someone who's been drinking knowing they're likely to have reduced inhibitions...of course, opinions on that may vary.

Hitting on a woman who has been drinking is most dishonourable.

This 'crewman' should have been fired out of the airlock.

You must not get out much.

;)
Mr Cool Dude, why do you think we get all made up, dressed up and go to bars in the first place? Because we like the way alcohol tastes?

I prefer to think the two of them had a on going affair that lasted for years, they would hook up every few days for some noise and sweat and fluids, and then get back to whatever they were doing outside their quarters.
Not so much romance, just friendly sex.

When Deanna was tapping herself rhythmically behind her ear ... now we know what she was thinking about.

You're assuming it was his idea in the first place. Deanna might have seduced *him*. She did, after all, outrank the guy...

And remember the next morning when we see him sitting, at attention, on the edge of the bed. Almost like he was 'ordered' to be there.

^ As Jack Nicholson once said....

"There is nothing on this earth sexier, believe me, gentlemen, than a woman you have to salute in the morning."

Anyone remember that bit in the novel Q-Squared when Q (or maybe Trelane, I can't remember) teleports Geordi into Troi's shower - while she's in it?

Screen capture?
Its from a book written by Peter David.
How about a illustration then?

You'll forgive me, but nothing is completely to scale.
