Why? Spock never had command aspirations by his own admission.
Spock's a liar. But anyway, not wanting and not getting a promotion are two different things.

Could we take that as captain at about your age?
That's a bit of stretch given Spock's history. Getting mad that someone else got a promotion strikes me as exceptionally out of character.Spock's a liar. But anyway, not wanting and not getting a promotion are two different things.
This is my justification for Kirk's inevitable appearence on Strange New Worlds. They meet when Pike is promoted. He then stays on the ship as part of the crew until Pike leaves.
Kirk says that Kirk (and possibly Spock?) were at Axanar but never met Garth, and that Kirk said "the dream" made them "brothers". Does this apply to everyone in Starfleet; "we are one big happy family", or does this imply something more personal to Kirk and Spock? Possibly, they could have been in an adventure together as cadets. Was this when Kirk was on the USS Republic? Anyway, this would be many years before the SNW timeline, so, Kirk and Spock may be established as friends at this point.KIRK: I agree there was a time when war was necessary, and you were our greatest warrior. I studied your victory at Axanar when I was a cadet. In fact it's still required reading at the Academy.
GARTH: As well it should be.
KIRK: Very well. But my first visit to Axanar was as a new fledged cadet on a peace mission.
GARTH: Peace mission! Politicians and weaklings!
KIRK: They were humanitarians and statesmen, and they had a dream. A dream that became a reality and spread throughout the stars, a dream that made Mister Spock and me brothers.
GARTH: Mister Spock, do you consider Captain Kirk and yourself brothers?
SPOCK: Captain Kirk speaks somewhat figuratively and with undue emotion. However, what he says is logical and I do, in fact, agree with it.

According to background graphics, deleted scenes etc Spock was born 2230 and Kirk in 2233.Since Kirk was 34 years old in the 2nd season episode "The Deadly Years",and since Spock's mother Amanda was only about 58 years old in "Journey to Babel", I doubt whether the Starfleet careers of KIrk and Spock started early enough for them to have met in Starfleet "Many years" before SNW.
Probably not "many", but maybe only ~three years.Since Kirk was 34 years old in the 2nd season episode "The Deadly Years",and since Spock's mother Amanda was only about 58 years old in "Journey to Babel", I doubt whether the Starfleet careers of KIrk and Spock started early enough for them to have met in Starfleet "Many years" before SNW.
Amanda's age was not shown on screen, although the DSC actress is young. Although young female character mated to decades older male character is a Hollywood male fantasy on screen.Since Kirk was 34 years old in the 2nd season episode "The Deadly Years",and since Spock's mother Amanda was only about 58 years old in "Journey to Babel", I doubt whether the Starfleet careers of KIrk and Spock started early enough for them to have met in Starfleet "Many years" before SNW.

I"Mated?" Like they're animals and not people with agency?![]()
