CBS has been showing highlights from a variety of games earlier this season. One of those was the South Carolina / Auburn game. One of Newton's touchdowns was scored when he dove in from the two yd line or so. Question: Why was Auburn not saddled with a penalty for celebration? I've seen other players get snagged for the exact same thing with no less chance of being prevented from scoring than Newton was in that game.
I really, really, really hope Auburn loses. The NCAA, though it reserves the right to penalize Auburn later, has really given carte blanche to players being shopped around for money.
Of course Cam didn't know.
It's the very best thing for college football were Auburn to lose. It's not a matter of me liking South Carolina. It's just that we know for sure that Cam's a cheat and a liar. I hate to see that shit rewarded. College football loses in the long run if Auburn wins. Schools with the biggest slush funds shouldn't have an advantage.

Oregon is looking just fine. They are taking Oregon St's best shot and they are still standing. Plus it's just sick to have these two RB's this good. Puts them in Wisconsin and Bama's class as far as a running game goes. Oregon St is hurting themselves with some ill-timed turnovers and so many tipped passes. Oregon's defense is shoeing me something today, too!
Oregon may be the last hope to beat Auburn. I sure hope they win. 
From what I saw this evening watching both games.... it's a tough call. I think Oregon has a bit more balanced offense, and their defense might be a tad stronger. Auburn had the tougher schedule.
ETA: Auburn just destroyed South Carolina. Oregon is going to be in an awfully lot of trouble if it doesn't play a near perfect game.

I would like to know where that piece of shit quarterback who started for Nebraska tonight was when the Cornhuskers visited Stillwater.....because there must be another Taylor Martinez. You remember him, I'm sure--the one who passed for over 300 yards on the Cowboys and whose body must have been dipped in oil because no mere mortal could catch up to him. It couldn't possibly be the same kid who started tonight. The kid who started against Oklahoma tonight imploded mentally after throwing an interception in the endzone when Nebraska was cruising and couldn't do one damn thing right from then on. He fumbled three times. Bumbled and panicked when he couldn't find his first receiver and generally looked like shit warmed over. No, it must be a different kid. This starter couldn't possibly have passed and rushed for the career high game of his life in Stillwater.
EDIT--they just confirmed on the local news that Taylor Martinez 2.0 rushed for negative 36 yards tonight.

The defense which grows stronger throughout the game vs. the offense which does the same. I'm rooting for the former.

Ridiculous that TCU plays in the Rose Bowl while they're forced to go east. Just make a freakin' exception, people!
6 – Michigan State (11-1)
Even their greatest season in decades receives little notice.
7 – Ohio State (11-1)
You shouldn't mention "Sisters of the Poor" when you really didn't play anyone that year—well, other than the team that beat you with relative ease.
8 – Nevada (12-1)
Calmly handled Louisiana Tech, when hangover loomed. Well done.
9 – Boise State (11-1)
Got over it fast.
10 – Arkansas (10-2)
Poised for a major move next year.
11 – Oklahoma (11-2)
[Triple sigh.]
12 – Virginia Tech (11-2)
Fourth-longest winning streak in the country, behind the undefeateds? That would be the Hokies.
13 – Louisiana State (10-2)
Those are two pretty high-quality losses.
14 – Alabama (9-3)
A lot of excellent teams are going to get crappy bowls this year, led by 'Bama.
15 – Nebraska (10-3)
Out with a whimper.
16 – Oklahoma State (10-2)
Another almost terrific season.
17 – Texas A&M (9-3)
Are they the real Big 12 champs?
18 – Missouri (10-2)
Maybe this is the country's best conference this year.
19 – Utah (10-2)
I'd giggle if they won the Pac-12 next year ... but I'd settle for them giving USC a bitch-slapping.

That beatdown seemed a little too definitive.
21 – Hawaii (10-3)
Three teams in the top twenty-five, and a fourth, Fresno State, bubbling under. The WAC seems fairly solid to me.
22 – West Virginia (9-3)
I love that they didn't win the Big East.
23 – Mississippi State (8-4)
Is this, though, the best they can do? I think so.
24 – Florida State (9-4)
As expected, Virginia Tech whupped 'em.
25 – Navy (8-3)
Assume that the Middies remain here if they beat Army next week, and are replaced by Central Florida if they lose.
Rutgers Watch: Well, let's chalk up the second half of the season to the LeGrand tragedy, and forget all about it. Next year will be different. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Bowl Schedule
I was really pulling for Stanford in the Fiesta against Oklahoma. It's a heckuva lot closer for them than Miami, so you know the fan-base would travel well. Plus, UConn coming across most of the country to phoenix? Don't you think that's going to be a difficult game to fill for them, with their smaller alumni base?

OU gets to play Connecticut as its reward?

OU will most likely slaughter UConn, but there's no accomplishment. No real sense that OU's beaten it's "big game" bowl demons, just as beating Stanford last year (which was a much inferior team to this year's Stanford) wasn't really great shakes. If they don't beat UConn by 4 or 5 touchdowns at least, they'll look bad. There's really nothing to be gained in reputation by winning, but there's much to be lost if they god forbid lose or don't win "by enough."
The bowl expects UConn fans to travel en masse to the desert? Seriously, if I were an OU player I'd be disappointed and upset. It's not that I'm thrilled that State's playing Arizona, but at least both teams will be able to draw to San Antonio. Hell, O-State's got a truckload of fans down there.

Most likely, granted, but ... UConn is quite capable of winning if they play an excellent game.
Oh, UConn winning would tickle my funny bone greatly but alas, I fear these cock sure Sooners will put on a good show. Dammit. UConn's offense will have to be "on" like never before. OU's defense is better than anything they've played all year, I promise you that.
Not sure you should be absolutely certain of that, or that I agree.
West Virginia's second in the nation in the single most important defensive stat, scoring defense, while Oklahoma is 35th—which is respectable, but hardly noteworthy. Hell, no team scored 22 points on the Mountaineers all year.
On the other hand, OU's faced far more efficient offenses, by and large.
Having seen both teams play, I would rate West Virginia's defense over Oklahoma's, frankly, granting WVU a slight to moderate edge.
I'd say that if UConn can score 16 against WVU, well ... I bet they lay a whole 17 on the Sooners!
