Don't worry, when Cincy (or some other school) snatches Butch Jones from Central Michigan, we'll stop Martin from being used for evil at ND, and Dave Heeke will tap him to be the new head coach at CMU.
I was at Central Michigan for Kelly's run here, and I'm not surprised. We all expected him to leave the moment he got here, we're a MAC school it's what you do, but the way he handled it was dickish. I know it's all part of the business, but he didn't make any friends with how he handled it. His denial, then taking the job a week later seems to be his style. Apparently, he ruffled a few feathers in his rise up the NCAA ranks and this factored into Michigan passing on him when they were replacing Lloyd Carr. I move between blaming Kelly in part, then blaming the system. Either way, ND doesn't have to worry about him leaving--he has reached the level he feels he deserves.

I just want to give a shout out to my Yellow Jackets!! First time in the Orange Bowl since the '67 game against Florida when Steve Spurrier was quarterbacking for them.. Go Jackets!

My grandpa offered me his tickets, but sitting outside by the Bay on a frosty San Francisco night did not sound particularly appealing. Especially the way USC has been playing.
Well, let's hope we get a good game and that we can end on a high note.

I don't know what to say. I can't believe he's retiring.
Well, as you've no doubt discovered by now, Coach Meyer has pulled a Brett Favre.... only in this case it comes within a 24 hour span. So, now his story is that he's taking an indefinite leave of absence. I'm of two minds about it. Obviously, there is the concern over the nature of his health problems and even a die-hard UT fan like me cannot begrudge a man when he has taken ill. On the other hand, I also can't help but find this roller coaster of events from Gainesville awfully convenient given that it comes just days before their big game against unbeaten Cincinnati (which, until yesterday, held a monopoly on head coaching drama).
Yeah, I read about Meyer's change of plans so to speak today... and it[s starting to sound like he just needs a break. That's got to be one of the most stressful coaching jobs out there, so he ought to take a sabbatical if he can. Considering what he's done for the program, I'm certain the school will grant it. Has Charlie Strong already gotten a head coaching job elsewhere?

He's got his work cut out for him there. Petrino's "parolees welcome" mentality had Louisville flirting with elite status for a couple of years, but Kragthorpe cleaned house and the talent seemed to go with it.
Still, Strong will have them playing defense, and most feel they still have quite a bit of speed. A quick turnaround is unlikely, but not impossible.

I'm watching my UGA Bulldogs take on Texas A&M right now. Fun game, but terrible camera angles and graphics. ESPN really went all cheap on this one.

Ahm. Now. To focus on the current bowl game... Poor Texas A&M. But I was pulling for UGA anyway. Always loyal to the SEC, I am. I'm not actually watching the flesh and blood game because I'm sick, but I'm laying in bed with my iTouch with the College FB app opened up to the Independence Bowl so I'm getting updates on all major plays and access to a Smack Talk tab, so all is well with the world So thankful for Mr. Spock (that's what I named the iPod...)
